I know, REEEEALLY...meat needs the yummy edges of the fat bits browned just right, with a little salt and pepper...and the skin crispy so it crunches between the teeth just so. Mmmmm

It's my understanding that long pig is a particularly tough meat. Boiling it was likely the fastest way to make it tender enough.

It's my understanding that long pig is a particularly tough meat. Boiling it was likely the fastest way to make it tender enough.


Low and slow is the best way to cook tough meat, I say throw em on the smoker for 16 to 18 hours.

Status: offline 		When I was little my uncle got into some trouble then figured punching the cop would help and he ended up with a five year prison sentence at Joliet state pen. Right before he went in the prison had an inmate disappear. They did not think he would escape since he was due to be released in a week. After an investigation they found out some other inmates killed him then to hide his body they put him through the meat grinder and everyone had him for dinner My uncle was very well behaved during his stint in the pokey after hearing that, he wanted out asap... lol

You know that's right. Let the connective tissues, cartilage, etc. all melt to create a gooey unctuousness (which is what I believe is really the key to umami).

So a cop can't even take care of business without calling the cops? :) I think a little bare knuckle fisticuffs is enough of a conflict resolution in most cases without having to clutter up the faulty legal system...

He was convicted of second degree, 15 life means he must serve 15 years before being considered for parole, if you think he get out after 15 I doubt it.Mason and his followers have been eligable for parole for some time now, in fact Manson was just turned down again for the 12th time.

I was pointing out that this guys sentence of only 15 years to life was about the only thing that could be done. He has no priors and basically the case was his confession, very little evidence. I also wanted to show that just because he would be eligable in 15 years, does not mean he would get it, the sentence is 15 to life.

Actually, my point was not the sentence, but the lack of evidence that got him convicted. As you said no body, no physical evidence etc, should have raised reasonable doubt with the jury.

The sad thing is, if he were convicted here in Texas, he would have probably got the death penalty.

I mean, if he had eaten her, there would have been bones left, so what did he do with them, and considering the stuff I read about his mental state, I doubt if he was thinking clearly enough to actually do a good job of hiding what parts he did not eat.

And the recanted confession.

I think the confession and attempt at covering the disappearance of his wife with a text message (WTF...the cops can trace your exact location during the moment said message was sent when they subpoena phone records, moron) is plenty. A lot of it is circumstantial but people have been convicted with much, much less.
