Yeah...still not the right section, bud. Unless you intended this to be a joking type of thread? Then you're good. Afghanistan wasn't about oil. I don't think there's any oil in Afghanistan...not substantial amounts, certainly. Afghanistan wasn't about liberation, either...it was about revenge. I would argue that Iraq was less about oil and more about revenge (though of a personal rather than national variety), too. In response to your question, though...war is far from the worst thing that could happen in North Korea. I would love to see the people of North Korea have more rights and freedoms. But there are lots of problems with simply going to war. First of all, we've already fought a war in Korea. It's difficult. The terrain is hilly and mountainous, which reduces the advantages of our technological superiority. It gets bitterly cold (the premier history of the Korean War isn't called "The Coldest Winter" for nothing). And then there's the diplomatic struggle. Do you know what countries border North Korea? South Korea, obviously, and they may support us. China, too...who isn't likely to appreciate an American force bearing down on Chinese territory. Whether they'd intervene in the same way they did in the 1950s is an open debate, but you have to be concerned.
