If we're talking real guitar-driven rock, allow me to do one from each decade (60s-90s) and then, I'll just throw some stuff in: 60s - Frijid Pink's version of "House Of the Rising Sun" 70s - Nazareth - "Hair Of the Dog" 80s - Iron Maiden - "Hallowed Be Thy Name" 90s - Joe Satriani - "Summer Song" Let's face it, the 2000s, generally, cut a musical fart. I am very partial to some of the harder "hair bands" (if you will). I like Judas Priest (and recommend "The Sentinel" because it shows how poetic Rob Halford is), Iron Maiden (Anything really but "Number Of the Beast" is chock full of good stuff. There's only one "filler" and even that's a decent song), Queensryche ("The Lady Wore Red". Skip that "Empire" crap), Rush (My band got it's name from a song on 2112 but farewell to Kings was kick-ass, too), Dio (Anything off the first 2 albums), KISS (I've been a KISS fan since they're first album but I STRONGLY recommend "Detroit Rock City" and "Master & Slave" and there's a really good cover version of "Strutter" on the "KISS My Ass" tribute album), Metallica (Pick one but I LOVE "Seek And Destroy"), Twisted Sister (Stay Hungry album), and we can't forget Motley Crüe's early stuff. I hope that was helpful. Peace and comfort, Michael
