Hi MBMG

So to cover an area that's maybe not been addressed so far, I get a lot of 'forced femme' type clients, probably works out to be around 50% of my regulars. Even a fairly specialised area such as this has start up costs which pretty quickly mount up. Just some examples...

Shoes - No such thing as buying a single pair of shoes in a single size for client use, you have to cater for clients who can vary from a UK 7 all the way up to a UK 12.

Clothing - Again, much the same problem, you get clients who will range from a UK 12 all the way up to a UK 22, plus you have to have a variety of looks in all of those outfit sizes.

Make up - More of an ongoing then start up cost, but still needs to be factored into any profit margin. When you are getting through several bottles of foundation alone each week, it can be pretty significant over time.

All in all I would guess that I currently stock around £6k of various heels, outfits, toys etc... Ongoing costs tend to be around £100 per week for replacements, make up, damages etc...

Hope this is of some help

Oh wow. So the Pro buys all that stuff, for the client(s) to wear while they're in session, then? Yes, it would add up!

It really does MBMG

TBH, it's why a lot of pro dommes get so hacked of with subs who are constantly on the look out for free feminization. It may be free for the sub, it sure as hell isn't free for the Domme !

A kind of typical message I get...

' You say your a Domme, but you charge to feminise a guy. Well, your hardly a genuine person into the BDSM scene then are you'

My response...

' I see, so you want to use my home, my clothing, my make up, my time and I get what exactly out of it given that I am not into guys ?'

It usually ends around that point :-)

What laws are applicable to the profession? Laws vary depending on state, city etc.. But main laws apply. No sex for money, no oral sex for money etc. Other then that research your local laws and follow them the best you can.
Do Pros have free-standing dungeons, or is the dungeon a room in the Pro's home? Depends on the pro.. Some have Dungeons some don't. I don't have a dungeon. I have kids so a dungeon is impossible. I have a lot of toys though and they work just fine.
What sort of clothing expenses are involved? Depends on what kinds of clothes you want. I have extensive closet of clothes but I have bought them or had them bought for me over the years. I buy what I want.. if you want a lot of fetish wear it will cost a bit. Build up slowly.
What sort of toys/equipment expenses are involved?

How do you advertise? Other than on CM discussion boards of course. I advertise in many places.. about 8 different websites, including back page. I also have my own website. It works.
Do you actually make a living at it? I make about $35,000 a year.. but I do limited amount of sessions a week and day. I am not doing session after session each day. Because I have kids I can only do sessions during the day while they are at school and I refuse to do back to back sessions. I could make a lot more if I wanted to or was able to do more sessions per day.
If you have "lifestyle" sub(s) too, is it hard to differentiate the two in your own mind? Not at all. My husband is my lifestyle sub. We live our lifestyle. A client coming to see me for a Professional session is a client. He is paying me for a set amount of time for set fetish's. My sub/husband serves me how and when I want.
What made you decide to go Pro? When I was younger it was because I needed money. I was already in the lifestyle, fell on hard times.. and decided to be a Pro because of the money. Today we don't need the money. My husband has a great salary but I still do it because I like doing sessions. It gives me extra spending money that we don't need but hey it goes to a good cause, but it turns me on to do the sessions and I like helping people who can't have full time Dommes for whatever reason (career, spouse etc) explore the lifestyle.

Okay, the Dommes who happen to be Pro get a lot of crap on these boards and that is NOT my intention. I am totally NOT trying to open up a can of worms for Pro bashing or anything. I really AM genuinely curious. I checked in the Professional Services forum and they don't allow actual Discussions, so......

What actually goes into being a Pro Domme? Like for instance:
What laws are applicable to the profession? I am independent therefore I am not doing anything wrong. I'm in the UK.
Do Pros have free-standing dungeons, or is the dungeon a room in the Pro's home? I have 2 playrooms which are suited for the type of play I specialise in.
What sort of clothing expenses are involved? My wardrobe consists of latex, pvc, shoes and boots etc. Not just for sessions but when I attend events, film or just fancy it.
What sort of toys/equipment expenses are involved? I have dungeon & nursery equipment which is not cheap. All my large pieces are a real investment. I then have toys on top of that plus clothing for subs depending on the scenario. Again it's all an investment.
How do you advertise? Other than on CM discussion boards of course. magazines, directories my websites, blogs, twitter...the usual channels in my opinion.
Do you actually make a living at it? Yes I do.
If you have "lifestyle" sub(s) too, is it hard to differentiate the two in your own mind? Not at all.
What made you decide to go Pro? Natural progression and one of my lifestyle slaves (long story)
Do you just do it for the money? Or do you enjoy your job too? I enjoy it. I was lifestyle before I became pro. It's very much my life.
Is there anything I've missed? Not that I can think of. Lol.
