On the day the Senate voted down a series of gun control bills, the National Rifle Association made false and misleading claims in opposing a measure to expand background checks.

Online ads from the NRA wrongly claimed that “80% of police say background checks will have no effect” on violent crime. The survey cited in the ads by the NRA says nothing of the sort.
Before and after the vote, the NRA said the measure “would have criminalized certain private transfers of firearms” and required “lifelong friends, neighbors and some family members to get federal government permission” to exchange guns. The measure didn’t expand background checks to such private transfers. It applied to sales by unlicensed individuals at gun shows and on the Internet.
Survey Doesn’t Say That

The NRA’s online ad monopolized the Washington Post‘s homepage, filling the right-hand side of computer screens, on April 17, the day the Senate took up several votes on gun measures, including a bipartisan one to expand background checks.

The ad, along with a video version, urged readers to “tell your senator to listen to police” instead of President Obama and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The Senate vote held late that afternoon fell six votes short of the 60 needed to move the bipartisan measure forward. If anyone did follow the NRA’s directive and call their senator, it was under false pretenses.

The gun grabbers in the congress, the main stream media plus even Sarah Brady herself have misrepresented and lied so many times on this issue to push their agenda that if in fact the NRA, who are constantly on the defense trying to combat these lies, misrepresented a thing or 2 I would say that's just one back at em and they have a crap load more to go to even the score.

Of course the NRA are "innocent" of ever doing anything like this before, huh... Pathetic argument and utter bollocks on being able to "even the score"
How old is the mentality surrounding "I would say that's just one back at em and they have a crap load more to go to even the score." ?????

I'm sure its quite old but the point is, so what. I'm calling the gun grabbers in congress, Obama, Biden, the main stream media and Sarah Brady bald face liars. Maybe it doesn't bother you when those people lie or misrepresent the facts. But if the NRA in fact did it then I'm going to file it under, "Like I Give A Rats Ass".

LOL Yeah ok, maybe I didnt use the correct terminology.... the iq that thinks lying more times to make up for other peoples lies, is roughly about the same age...12-15.

how about any government agent using any form of deceit or acting with anything less than full disclosure be banned from ever holding office, and stripped of all privileges granted by the people.

What should Congress do about gun control?
Leave federal gun laws as they are (95%, 29,549 Votes)
Expand background checks, ban assault weapons and limit the capacity of magazines (3%, 813 Votes)
Only expand background checks (2%, 716 Votes)
Total Voters: 31,078

They aren't lying, it just isn't scientific....

Just as in the OP, it isn't that the NRA misrepresented a poll, they just pushed a useless unscientific one. Just as you are now rob.

The polls most are refering to in this debate, on both sides, are garbage. Either they aren't scientific, or the questions are scewed that they have nothing to do with legislation, just some vague feelings and notions.

On the defensive? Could you send me some of what you're smoking?

The NRA has gotten the assault weapons ban lifted, rendered the ATf completely toothless in tracking guns used in crimes and shutting down dealers who knowingly feed weapons into the black market. They even have kept the ATF from having a permanent director.

Yes, and they did all that in the face of a pack of lies. The NRA has had to remain vigilant. They 're constantly on the defensive as they were recently keeping the so called "Assault Weapon" ban from becoming law. The Clinton AWB was allowed to sun set. It simply wasn't renewed. I might add they were on the defensive durring 8 years of Clinton. The ATF were left toothless with their pants down running guns to Mexico.

What lies you ask on another post ? Coming up, I was hoping Lucy would ask.
