You're the third person to assume I meant legally obligated. I really should have said "duty" or used a phrase about conscience.

Just catching up on this show, haven't been to DS's event but sadly think I know "the bastard in question". Local attorney puts together gang bangs, kink parties & also attends spanking events. Advertises on craigs 50 or more times a day for "sub sluts", "gang bang whores". He's learned by process of elimination to put "softer" ads out as well, but its the same abusive prick.
No idea on the legitimacy of rape alligations but if I had to pick someone to "do no harm" to newbies or abuse his self imposed "dumbinance" it would be this guy. Personally any party he attended would seriously make me question the host & likely leave never to return.

Well, even though it isn't the guy you mention, the description you give isn't rape either. Seriously, if someone answers an ad for a "gangbang whore," can they really claim they were raped and forced into sex?

Not the suggestiom that those FREELY PARTICIPATING in his "little endevors" are angels...suggestion is bottom feeding bastard that freely takes advantage of those that cross his path then uses "I'm a lawyer" to attempt to shut down legitimate responses of "you're a bottom feeding bastard get away from me". Bully of the lowest order shouldn't excuse piss poor behavior with chest thumping about what a "dumbinant" they are. Of those I personally have come across in the denver community he's first in line for who I would believe raped someone. Apparently (according to DS) its a different bottom feeding bastard in question. Yippie, guess I will skip the public pool a while longer...no time for that kind of bullshit

Nowhere in that post did you mention how much you loved my abs, LP, so I don't know why I should be replying to this . . . . ;-)

You're not a man and that, inevitably, changes what can and can't be said by you to me. I think both sexes generally learn to take that for granted.

Also: Hadn't Steven received PMs from one or more of these women? But even if he hadn't, I'm not sure that would make much of a difference to my position, anyway.
That's because I'm not in love with your abs, My sweet. I am much more in love with your friendship and your mind.

Besides, we both know I'm much more of an ass gal when it comes to physical attributes. [;)]

No. I'm not a man. I even admit that there has been some stuff that I've done that I couldn't have gotten away with if I were. Doesn't that kind of suck, in a way? If you really look at it, I *shouldn't* get more allowances just because I don't have a dangley bit between My legs. At least, not one I have to buy at the store.

theRose4U -> RE: What actions , if any, should I take? (5/9/2013 7:17:01 AM)

BAHAHAHAHA
Would make interactions with others much more interesting if dominance requires a giant strap on. Does a neon pink thorobred penis really mean we are more capable than those packing meat sticks between their legs?

Because even if the reports of rape turn out to be false.... the accused rapist's life is Completely ruined...

custody of children can be revoked
Jobs can be lossed.
NONE of this can be revoked....

Even if a report of rape in a BDSM environment is proven to be true.... the victim's life can be completely ruined....

Custody of children can be revoked
Jobs can be lost
Family relationships can be lost
friendships can be lost
black balled within the community

With that perspective, it becomes more understandable why more women in the community don't go to the authorities. And only rely on conversations within the community.

I'll be the first to say that a lot of what I read seems to be a lack of common sense. But, since I wasn't there, I'm not going to make a verdict either way.

There seems to be enough substantiation that the guy in question is a jerk, for that reason alone I would decline attending a small 40 person gathering with him in attendance.

Again im in a community that is still trying to rebuild from a shelfish brat, claiming rape so her partner wouldnt dump her, the similarities between what happened here in my community, and what ive read about stevens makes me so jaded it isnt funny.

All because a girl had sex outside of her relationship, and her partner found out... this man lost everything because she told him No.. My partners fine with us having sex....

I've got to say: Jesus, I never cease to be shocked by just how harsh women can be towards other women. It really does make me shudder, at times. Earlier, I posed the question, 'Supposing one of the women doing the accusing, here, was your sister?'. I was half-consciously addressing that to men, not to women. Hell, maybe I should have addressed it specifically to women. Men, I think, generally know that they're somewhat at sea when it comes to the issue of rape. They don't understand, at root, and know that they don't understand. So they compensate, mainly by being careful and 'considering of all sides'.

Women, though - they can be sometimes frighteningly certain of where they are on the matter. If they want to defend those women who've claimed they've been raped, they really go for it; but if they want to attack those women who've claimed they've been raped, they really bloody go for that, instead. Infinitely big cuddle, or infinitely big cudgel. It's quite startling, sometimes, to me.

Men and women both hold each other to a different standard than they hold the opposite sex.

Both judge- and treat- their own gender most harshly.

No doubt, Aswad. But I don't like to see women being cruel to each other. It's revolting. They should stop it. They should know that I won't tolerate it, and that punishments will be in order should I see it.

I have spoken.

As a dominant sadist, I positively love seeing women being cruel to each other, if I'm not in a position to effect the cruelty myself. [:D]

We could all stand to be less concerned with kindness and cruelty, and more concerned with fairness.

... Agreed. Steven ultimately has to live with his own choices on this. From what I've seen of him and this situation, considering his posts over the years, and what I've read about these events here and elsewhere? With the large amount of uncertainty and consequences? And not really helped by the persons here (and elsewhere) who've got an axe to grind, who identify with the jerk/predator/etc? It's definitely a do-your-thoughtful-best sort of thing.

... What I'd add to your post, is that the choices of attending or not, warning or not, etc aren't one-time decisions that have to be held that way indefinitely. If more facts come out about the incidents, as more consequences unfold, the OP can reassess the situation, revisit his choices and adjust as he sees appropriate.

SB

SB - Great points! And, you know, it's not like those are the only options, either. Once DS becomes clear about his own stance, then his own heart and brain will come up with new ideas on what, how, when and where to do... whatever is in his opinion, "best."

DS - The Chinese symbol for "crisis" is "opportunity."

Because we are women, We know the tricks most of our gender pull, We know how manipulative and cuntastical our gender truly is. And Women who have been raped tend to be VERY harsh on women who claim to have been but their stories stink worse then a fish market that ran out of ice on a 90 degree day.

Actually, that is just something people like to say.

the danger/opportunity interpretation isn't completely baseless. But let's stop kidding ourselves. The simplest explanation is that wei ji literally means precarious moment — a pretty close approximation of crisis, and not necessarily one meant to suggest a paradox. No doubt the rendering of ji as opportunity is the work of a nonnative speaker who naively added the optimistic twist this word implies to speakers of English. Wu Hung, a Chinese scholar at the University of Chicago, says that originally wei ji didn't even mean crisis. "Ji has a range of meanings, including opportunity but also danger," he says. "When the third-century Chinese began to use the word wei ji, they simply meant danger — a meaning emphasized by both characters."

This is likely because as SpiritedRadiance pointed out, each knows how the other thinks better than the opposite.

That, coupled with some men's inherent belief that women are delicate little flowers in need of men's protection.

LP i think there are communities, But i come from where we eat our own, and throw the scraps to the wolves, Philly is a tough place to Start in the life, from other communities ive had the pleasure of getting to know, Jersey, DC, MD, DE, Central PA They dont have nearly the amount of BS Philly does

littlewonder -> RE: What actions , if any, should I take? (5/9/2013 7:03:29 PM)

UGH...Philly...I remember all that happening. It's why I left a group there when I lived in Allentown. I had no desire to even be associated with all the drama. The moment I see drama anywhere at all, I walk away. I can't be bothered to give a shit.
