Glad I'm not the only one finding it impossible with the example given as is.

Hey, do we have any of those "I know this girl on the internet and she's been kidnapped" threads that somebody could pull up. You know the ones. Transported across state lines, held by some drug king pin, but she's still got computer and cell phone access?

I love going back and looking at those kinds of threads. You get to see the names of the long gone.

Personally, I wouldn't attend and I would tell her about my concerns. I vote with my wallet and my feet.

That. I would very strongly feel by attending that I was actively supporting whatever it was I thought was happening. There's a reason I no longer have a fetlife account. So the moment I became concerned about the safety of women attending a function I would no longer be able to attend it myself. I personally do not support rape.

Next, I'm pretty much against vigilante justice and the court of social media. So under-reported or not I have the same attitude. If there's no conviction then "innocent until proven guilty" is my moral imperative. So no, I would not be warning other people. There is nothing to warn them of.

What I WOULD be doing is exercising all those alpha-male, natural-born-leader yada yada things and making a group that was attractive and actually safe then I'd compete this other group into the ground.

When I first started dating my husband, I swear half the city came to me telling me he was trouble, that he didn't love me

Carol's friends similarly warned her (to be fair, with some reason). Here at the almost 20 year mark she's probably glad she didn't listen also.

Of course, it's kind of funny that in hindsight many of them would feel vindicated. Somewhere along the way I did clap a cold steel collar around her neck and declare her as my property LOL.
