MaamJay -> RE: Terms of Endearment (12/25/2006 2:32:57 AM)

Master and His family use His chosen name for me (violet) and i love that. It's been interesting in the local community, as people have seen me transition from being primarily Dominant to currently being primarily sub, they have automatically transitioned from calling Me Jay to calling me violet too! However, Master and i also use lots of terms of endearment and pet names for each other, which is great. In public He tends to use pet (or even nicer, My pet) and love (or My love) and My girl quite a lot, whereas i use Hon, Love, m'Love, Dearest and occasionally Babe, Darlin', Sweet or Sweetheart. Like many others, i feel awkward using His real name, and generally avoid it unless it's necessary. However, i would still use Master more often than anything else, even when out shopping etc, though i won't yell it out the length of the supermarket aisle! i'll use the mobile and call Him Master on that LOL! When i sign my daily journal it's always as "Your slavegirl" which i really feel good about. In private moments of passion He will use My slut (which makes me go weak at the knees! so does My slavegirl), but He wouldn't use that sort of language in public (vanilla) though He might at a play party. Master and i have a very loving relationship, W/we see O/ourselves as life partners as well as M/s so endearments flow naturally within O/our style. There are times when i wish He would address me directly more often as violet, He mostly uses it when He refers to me when talking with others. But that's a very minor nitpick ... i am a lucky girl to have Him!

I call my Master "Sir," which, to me, is an endearment all its own. When I've had to use his given name, it's felt very strange to do so. I actually had to practice saying it when I introduced him to my parents. (For some reason, I felt that "Sir" wouldn't do.) He saved me from this by introducing himself though. (I was grateful)

To me, also, it feels unnatural to call Master by his name, but I have in vanilla situations. It amuses Him because He hears the hesitation as I remember not to say "Sir." I have slipped on occasion- in front of His biker friends and once, while on the phone with Him in front of my 16 yr old son. I was mortified; my son didn't pick up on it (thank the gods).

But, basically, I call Him Sir and He calls me little girl. On the occasions when He uses my name- I spring to attention like a child hearing her Mother use her middle name.

Super-dynamic-pooh-possum-girl-of-tomorrow... I have no idea where Rob came up with that name....  Usually I am  called by my  first name or denika, sometimes slut, brat or  bitch peeks in there too from time to time *g*  small terms of endermeant such as hon or darling occsionally slip in from my Top and  they mean alot to me.  I had someone call me little girl once, it wasn't a Dadd Dom thing it was just  a 'who did I think I was' at the moment thing but I still found it  a bit of a thrill, at 5'9 I don't get called 'little' often.  Rob is always Rob, he doesn't like other titles,    For Knight it's Sir or  if there are family about it's his first name if I have to  say it, otherwise I will find away around it as it seems almost  a bit  foreign, and extremly intimate to say.

I call him by his first name, "Dearest", or "Hon" a lot. When writing about him here, he is my Dom, he is D in the stories I post in my LiveJournal. He stated a strong preference for me to never call him Master or Sir, just because he says it doesn't seem right to him for us to be so intimate, but yet for me to address him in that way. I don't mind, I would feel awkward suddenly using that terminology after a year and a half together, too.
He calls me by my first name, "girl", "dear", or "honey". Sometimes "my slave", or "my slut", which also make me very happy, indeed.

When you are in a D/s relationship, regardless of the role you play, do you find yourself using terms of endearment like honey, baby, darling etc., or do you stick primarily to the Sir/Master, pet/slave names?
 ~ LD
I don't mind pet names at all between a lover and myself, but definitely prefer some over others...  For example, I like/don't mind babe, baby, darling, sweetheart; but can't stand "honey, or sweetie."  M
