I think if a sub is handing his money to a stranger, he isn't doing it right. :( Unfortunately that's a lot of what's out there and I think subs who are wary of it have good cause. I started doing financial domination after being a "pro-domme" to a few subs in RL for a while. If you do financial domination for the money, you're going to wind up disappointed and you're going to lose your subs very, very quickly - it's usually a one-off experience for subs who go to cam princesses. The money has to be seen as a symbol of power, not as income for the domme. I've heard dozens of horror stories from subs who have lost everything, even gone bankrupt, giving thousands of pounds to virtual strangers who flip them off and spit on them. That's a kink in itself maybe but not what I'd call findom. I also think it will be a disappointing experience unless it's used as just one part of the play. If you just say pay me and go away without any other relationship, play, training, you're basically a panhandler, not a findom.

It isn't empowering to get paid for sex, which is exactly what that is. How is money as a "symbol of power" something that makes any sense at all. Money changes hands when services are being bought and sold. If you are being given money it is because they are running the show. Being given their body and soul isn't apparently legitimate power enough for you? You need the symbol too huh, yea right. How are you supposed to be dom if you are doing it for money?

Generally I don't have a problem with Findommes. However ... I think it is a risk that an individual who is perhaps vulnerable could be placed in a position of being in financial difficulty. In an R/T session the Domme can keep an eye on how the sub is responding and adjust accordingly, but that isn't always possible when the relationship is by email, IM and Amazon(!)

I doubt that many who are into the fetish will answer. If you're not into into it you're not going to get it. The only real issue I've seen here with findommes is that guys are shocked when they find they have to pay. They figure they're looking at a social website with personals, not pay for play. When you go to a restaurant you bring your wallet expecting to pay, but when you're invited to someone's home it's a bit of a shock when they want you to have the groceries delivered to them before they'll tell you where they live.

Your analogy breaks down because people only invite their friends to their home for free. I've done yoga classes for strangers out of my home, but I bartered for massage or house cleaning. I lived in a boarding house in the Berkshires for 4 months in the off season when food was not provided. There was a crew of guys who installed cell phone towers staying there too. They paid me to cook dinner for them. While I cook for free for my friends and family, since these guys did not pay in relationship coin, they paid in cash.
