How would you propose anyone, do something about it... with the tech, its only going to encroach more.
not a party thing, but our corporate overlords, and the minion government, and foreign interests. Every country that has the tech has done the same thing.
Reality is nothing will change it
got ideas?

It`s not total surveillance, the only calls/emails that get looked at are ones containing key words. If you`re not doing crimes, there`s no need to be worried.....those that are worried about what they say, maybe should be.

Sure I do. It isn't even hard. People will always do illegal things. But we could, at least prosecute them. For instance, as I understand charters this entire thing is illegal given the NSA has no grounds for domestic operation (not that they haven't been doing THAT for years also). Then we could start crafting some new laws to adapt to the changing technological landscape. Once we've wrestled the govt. under control getting the corporations under control will be easy. You just make some laws and start throwing CEO's in prison (no fines... hard jail time) for breaking them. I imagine that would prove a powerful disincentive. If Steve Jobs had gone to prison for that business about ... you know... geotracking EVERY SINGLE APPLE CUSTOMER WORLDWIDE I should think that'd make other CEO's ponder the critical importance of avoiding such things.

We cannot stop the march of technology but we can surely decide how we wish to use it. This isn't hard. We just have to throw Obama out of office then ask if anyone else would like to give it a go.

Status: offline 		While I dont disagree with you on prosecution, and jail time, hard labour would be good for that, not some minimum security couple of months bullshit, but they cant even prosecute bank leaders orwall street, let alone government NSA people, simply because they would never get it thru committee, congress and the senate
Noone has the bollocks or the will to do so.
the ACLU, Amnesty, OWS, or other citizens groups even might/will start up something, but thats bound to fail in the courts before it gets the laws written.

*nods* As Aswad said, the power structures are already locked down pretty tight. So I agree. In truth I suspect we are either going into a sort of absolute police state that makes 1984 look like a hippy love in or else there will be insurrection and the military will have to choose to stand with the populace (and know that is what they are choosing).

In the end though, the only idea there is... just like with Occupy and Tea Party... is to try to educate people and pray that the gates haven't already closed.

By the way, this post will almost certainly land me on a flagged status deep in the heart of some computer.

Dear NSA. Please understand that I do not own a gun and have no intention of buying one in the near future.
