No doubt everyone knows somebody with a horrible or nasty habit.

But what I'm asking here, is for habits you have yourself that you truly wish you didn't have.
I'm not talking about OCD's here. Just anoying or silly habits.

I have a few but here's some that really drive me nuts!!!

When I open a new tab in my browser, read what I wanted to, and end up away from the top of the page, the sensible thing to do would be to close the tab using the little "X"... Right??
99% of the time I scroll back up to the top before I close it!!
Why? I have no friggin idea but I know I'm doing it and it drives nuts every single time! GRRRR!

When I walk in the door from outside, I leave it open for the person following me.
That would sound sensible. But I even do it when I know it's just me walking through the door!!
What's worse is that I shout at everyone that leaves the door open!!!!! GRRRR!

I have a dozen PC's on my network here with 5 of them surrounding me on my desk.
I switch between them with a KVM switch - A useful bit of kit for me.
Now, when I shut a machine down for any reason, I should just switch to the next one I'm doing something on and leave that machine to shut down on its own.
What do I do?? I sit and watch the friggin thing until the fans have stopped before switching over.
Why? I really don't know and there's no good reason for doing it.
As soon as I hit that button on the KVM switch I'm fuming inside for waiting! GRRR!

With the setup I have here, I've got an old P3 machine that I use just as a print server so everyone on the network has access to all the printers and we don't have to rely on someone else's machine being switched on and behaving itself. It's old and slow (as a machine) but does its job very well and it's not full of other crap.
I'm often working on several documents at once.
When I think I've finished, I might print it off on one of the printers.
If I do, I can hit the print button and close the application and get on with the next thing and let the print server get on with handling the document and the printer.
What do I do? I sit and wait for it to finish printing before I close the app!!
How annoying is that?? GRRRRR!!

Every single time I do any of these things, I am really annoyed with myself for doing it.

Anyone else got habits they wish they didn't have or do??

Holy gosh do I lol

I chew on straws,pens, and fingers.soooo unhygenic!
I drink an unholy amount of pop.terrible for you...
I will never call out someone, even if I know theyre lying, which usually makes them lie more,and then me feel bad,like they dont respect me.
I like things in order. Rather than just take out the one thing I need, I move everything. Such a waste of time.I dont even need to move the things I do to get the item out, I do it to maintain order.ex-soup,books
I stop before I stop while driving.
I blow on food thats known to be cold, ie icecream.
I totally run water to pee
I pause before I swear or say something inappropriate.
I sleep with a blanket over my head and a light on.Why even have the light if the blankets above your head?
I take a shower to take a bath.

I annoy the crap out of me lol.

From a stop, when taking off in first gear, I tap the accelerator before bringing it back up to let out the clutch. I don't even realize I'm doing it.

I have a nasty and annoying habit of pointing out the obvious flaws in history movies, such as the modern ships in Tora Tora Tora, the modern carrier in Midway, the flaws in the cgi animation in the movie Memphis Belle, Winchester repeating rifles in the John Wayne movie Comancheros ( the movie is based during the period before Texas became a state, which is before the civil war, when they were still using cap and ball rifles and pistols, they were also using 1870 model colt peacemakers.)

When I'm in the bathroom (not my own, but one I share with others, like at work) I turn the light out and walk out the door, then immediately turn back around and flick the light on and give it the once over one more time. To be sure I didn't do something stupid like leave toothpaste in the sink or drop something on the ground. I can't just look around before I leave the room. I walk out, then turn around and walk back in again. Like it's an afterthought, except I've been doing it for about twenty years.

And I put Chapstick on about twenty five times a day.

I eat when I'm not hungry.
I steal every pen I touch. I didn't even realize how bad I was about this until I cleaned out my desk drawers and found tons of pens (and pencils) I'd collected from around my work place. Granted, they're for us all to share but I don't need that many at once. I cleaned them all out of my desk and put them back in the communal place. It re-stocked it quite well!
I say "thank you" so often that I say it at times I don't even need to. Like, I'll do something someone should thank me for and then I'll tell THEM "thank you." Guess I'm just afraid it won't get said? Not sure.
I find that as I age, I increasingly tend to interrupt others during a conversation. I honestly only do it because I'm afraid I'll forget what I need to say. I know this from experience.
I must enter our local grocery store from the side where the produce section is. If I don't go in that way and work my way past every aisle, I totally feel like I'm forgetting something (which I usually am).
The vehicle I drive has the odometer that gives a digital readout of how far you've traveled this trip. Every time I get in to drive somewhere, I MUST reset it to "0." I MUST.

I have a lot of habits that annoy myself. Some are:

I scratch myself (arm, back, or leg) when nervous. I didn't know this until I noticed my daughter does it also.
I bite my fingers when I'm in deep thought. Or the insides of my cheeks. Or my lips.
I pace while on the phone - especially at work.
When I get REALLY angry, the cuss words start flying out horrifically.
I tend to sit with one leg tucked under.
Like Luci, I say 'thank you' way too much.
I have to read magazines from back to front. I'll try the beginning but get bored so start from the end (as if that somehow makes things exciting).
I always touch warm food to my lip before eating to check the temp (not every bite, just the first few).
Before falling asleep in bed, I take the edge of the sheet or pillowcase and make a sharp point with it and drag the sharp point against my thumb for a while.

When I'm nervous I tend to fidget with stuff in front of me. For example, if I'm drinking something with a straw and I'm nervous, I will play with the straw, move it around the glass, etc...if there's a pen sitting there, I tend to push the clicker up and down or play with it between my fingers, etc....

I say sorry to people when they tell me something went wrong with their day or something. Yeah, I know it's not something I did, I just feel bad for that person. I have already been in trouble for that with both Master and my boss who keep telling me to stop doing that. It seems to annoy both of them. I've been trying to make a point of not saying it, plus Master has made it a rule that I am not allowed to but it still slips and I don't even realize it until someone tells me.

I carry pens / pencils from my home office to the kitchen when not needed.
Of course, there's never a pencil in my office when I need one.

I have tried to realize that what I do, but it just doesn't impinge on my consciousness until (of course) I need one.

I bite nails and fingers. HORRID!
I leave lights on.
I steal pens and lighters. Accidental of course. I don't even smoke. Actually if something is very small, I'll keep it in my hand and not realize.
Curse a lot.
Say "or whatever" after ordering food. (Example: could I please have the large coke or whatever)
I eat real fast.
I totally call out mess ups in movies like jlf.

I sure there are tons more....

Greetings

I have half conscious facial ticks and people say they make me ugly but I just can not stop. I can stop doing them when concentrating but it is like not blinking, sooner or later I have to do them and that is annoying.

I tend to shop way to much when it comes to science fiction, fantasy and horror, occult books and materiel and Gothic jewelry and so on.

I have way to much of a temper really and have a habit of getting a bit biting when I really should not.

I have a habit of starting a book, a video game and so on, and then a new one comes along and grab my attention and I do not finish what I started and that is a bit annoying.

Call out scenes in movies based on books (if I read them that is).

Shopping on eBay. Already complained about this, but I am buying for Mom this time. Her cast is off but she still hobbles and I fear the bone is healing crooked. I am buying her books since she does not read biographies, sci-fi and fantasy like I do. I did buy a DVD for myself though to add to my Underworld collection.

Looking on Amazon for free ebooks.

Pulling my hangnails out. I try to maintain a perfect French manicure but my nails break. I learned to carry nail clippers with me to take care of the problems.

Facebook, Doctor Who, Netflix...need I say more?

Getting up at 3 in the morning due to pain. Fibromyalgia can be a bitch.

Racing thoughts...being bipolar is a bitch. Doing chaotic math problems can dull the speed and make me tired.

I hate a messy bed, so I straighten the blankets when I get up. I don't totally "make" the bed (I don't always put all the decorative pillows back, for instance), but I do shake out the sheets and comforter so it looks smooth. I do this every time I get up. Maybe too much.

Sir has often accused me of making the bed with him still in it.

I was just straightening the covers! Really!
