I do not believe making them illegal will keep them out of criminals hands either but i do think it would help. However small that decrease of guns stolen etc to be used to kill maim others has to be a good thing.

don't read much do you. Maybe don't remember much. I carry when in the desert, going to and from. and I have a house weapon which yes is loaded. And yes my teen grand dau used it to protect herself when the house was broken into at gunpoint when we lived in cali

Oh im sorry i wasnt aware you couldnt leave a gun locked in the trunk of ur car whilst stopping at a store. No you havent really answered my questions as is typical of someone who sees noone elses point of view.

I also own 13 firearms, 2 of which are pistols, I also have a license to carry them, and I do, 100% of the time. I use the other firearms for both hunting and target shooting, as well as home defense. Fully half of my weapons are loaded and ready for immediate use (NO LOCKS). Since my state adopted the "shall issue law", the crime rate here has decreased, gee, maybe because the criminals dont know who is carrying and who isnt? I spent 28 years in the military, defending my country, state, and the Constitution, which GUARENTEE'S all citizens rights to "keep and bear arms". That is what this country was founded on, personel/civil rights.

Actually I don't have a trunk or a car. I have a truck. and there is no place to leave my weapon unless I choose to go home and drive the extra 20 miles or so to the store (I don't choose to do so personally). Also if you had read I don't carry all the time. Lots of people here do, but most of them work in the desert areas full of snakes, mountain lions, and javalina (a wild bore) so you see, carrying a gun into a store or resturant going to and from the desert is much easier. I think you are upset mostly because I do carry at all. I understand that in the UK that people dont' carry guns. Been there. I also understand that people have more respect for others (generally speaking) than they do here. I also understand that under our form of government, that the states form their own malitias armed by their citizens (not the federal army) under the second ammendment of our constitution for the protection of the state. California is a good example. Even in elementary school, they have a volunteer program called the california corps of cadets which is a part of the state malitia. And yes, they sometimes take them to army bases and teach them to shoot too. We also have in this country cities that require people to be armed (there are 2 cities in Alabama that had so much crime that they chose this and most of the violent crime went away). Having the ability to carry weapons (and yes I do carry my swords and hawk with me sometimes) is a deterant in my opinion. Violent criminals here think twice because you dont know what you are running up against. Like when my grand daughter (we were living in cali which has almost completely banned weapons) was assaulted when they kicked in my door and came in carrying guns. She grabbed mine, fired 2 rounds and they left. But they had told her that she was going to be raped. Now she carries all the time (she is an adult now) and yes she has a concealed weapons permit.

Its not a question of do you have guns, its a question of where do you keep them. I support the right to own. I also support an allotted waiting period required to purchase. Too bad the procedure is not fullproof. I know many felons, hell I am related to two, who should not have guns. I support the rights of law-abiding, never convicted adult citizens to use guns, even if by owning them, they become felons.

Thank you for your service. I totally agree. I keep my weapons (with one exception) under lock and key, but I have a 2 yr old that I watch often enough that I don't want to take any chances on her getting into them. I use engineer stakes as targets when target shooting. shooting at a 1 1/2 inch target at 300 meters is a challenge. but it you can hit it you can hit anything. My son retires frm the Army on Aug 17.
