Now now, I think that might actually best.........imagine how much less killing there would be if we have to look one another in the eye during battle.

When you ban guns only criminals will have them. They can enter your home without fear of
reprisal. When Australia banned guns the crime rate went through the roof.

The one thing that makes invading the USA so difficult is the enemy not only has to
worry about our army but a well, armed citizenry.

I currently don't own a gun but I have. It's out right to own guns IF we want to own them.
That doesn't mean we HAVE to own them except in places previously mentioned in this
thread.

Ok firstly unarm citizens and the army and police would still be armed.

Secondly rotflmfao @ the only reason u r so well defended is ur armed citizens. Do u really think that anyone planning to invade you would think oh no we cant cos joe bloggs owns a gun lololol.

Yes rights to own a gun are yours but in UK its not like that and i thank god for it.

kittinSol -> RE: Guns (6/28/2006 1:05:56 PM)

That is precisely why I demand to know why it is that the USA is running after other countries which MIGHT have nuclear weaponry. I want those warheads as well. After all, what if North Korea decided to invade my shoe closet tomorrow? Gotta be ready for 'em, ya know.

KenDckey -> RE: Guns (6/28/2006 1:10:08 PM)

roflmao  nuke do have a tendency to solve a whole multitude of problems.

kittinSol -> RE: Guns (6/28/2006 1:11:53 PM)

Tweaking Level's poll's buttons here (and NO, not the other ones, you dirty man), trying to change the ratings to make MY side go UP. It's just too sucky when things don't go the way I want them to. Hmmmmpf! Bloody hell, that's a hell of a firewall there. Argh.

KenDckey -> RE: Guns (6/28/2006 1:13:44 PM)

oh   I forgot   do the shoes come full or empty?

ArtimisBlack -> RE: Guns (6/28/2006 1:14:47 PM)

Do I own a gun? Not yet. Do I know how to shoot and care for a gun? Yes. I think everyone should regardless of whether or not they plan on owning one. I believe in gun safety. I also believe that criminals are exactly that: criminals. Hence it matters very little to them if the guns they use are legal or not. You know who it does matter to? Law abiding citizens. You know why? Because if the criminals are the only ones with the guns, then guess who has the power-that's right, the criminals. I know I'd rather they didn't. Oh, and a few things just for the record....
1) Guns don't kill people- bullets do (without them a gun is just a blunt object) if you want a gun for protection but refuse to kill/cause harm, you can always load it with blanks or leave it unloaded and hope that you can scare people away enough so you’ll never have to use it.
2) Just because you're in a position where you have to shoot someone, doesn't mean you have to shoot to kill.
3) Carrying a gun with the purpose of defending yourself doesn't even mean that should the situation arise you will have to shoot (and yes I know that you should be prepared to do so if you decide to carry), sometimes people have the sense to just walk away when they see you won't be easy pickings.
and finally
4) If it comes down to a choice between you walking away or them walking away I'm pretty sure most of us would choose ourselves. After all, we're not the ones breaking the law/ trying to cause harm. We all have the unalienable right to defend ourselves- with guns or otherwise.

If you live in a place where situations where a gun would be necessary don't exist, good for you. I wish the rest of the world was the same, but it's not. Until it is, I'll support the right to bear arms...and the right not to.

dgod -> RE: Guns (6/28/2006 1:26:08 PM)

In the beggining of ww2 when the emporer of japan asked about the possibility of invading the u.s. mainland one of the reasons he decided agianst it was one of his generals who had gone to collage in the u.s. told him almost every american household was armed. Had that not been the case the west coast of the us would have been an easy target. Our navy was in ruin and our military was at the time small and unprepared.  Most of  the equipment was left over from ww1.  I will also point out that after germany steamrolled france and was poised to invade the british isles there was one thing the british were lacking was an armed populace. So the call went out to american citizens, not the govt to send guns to defend british homes and the american public responded overwhelmingly. Atfer the war the weapons were conficated and destroyed. Slow learner they are.         P.S. by the way it was the N.R.A.who led the drive to collect the weapons

KenDckey -> RE: Guns (6/28/2006 1:26:33 PM)

I thought the UK was safe since they don't have guns.  How come they have 25 shootings a day being reported in their press?

kittinSol -> RE: Guns (6/28/2006 1:29:27 PM)

This is a very good 'general' article which presents both sides of the argument.

Wikipedia is an excellent source of unbiased information: I recommend we all plunge our collective noses into this URL. Essays on my desk tomorrow, no later than 5PM GMT! *Stomps heel, whacks ruler against thigh, slams desk!*

missturbation -> RE: Guns (6/28/2006 1:29:36 PM)

Why is it so hard for some of u american gun toting he-men to understand that it is just my opinion to carry a gun is wrong. That it is my choice not to carry one. I respect your opinion - choices over them as i have stated so many times.
