Got this from the Gorean's board. Do you own a firearm? Would you? Why, or why not?

Wulfchyld -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 3:12:24 AM)

Own them and use them.

SpankMuhButt -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 3:37:33 AM)

I don't own a gun and trust me that makes others very safe lol. Honestly I was supposed to go in the police acedemy many many years ago and when i decided (ummm my dad and b/f at the time decide) i shouldnt do it many people agreeded due to my temper back then it was a much safer world if they didnt let me have a gun.
My temper has improved,,,,,,,,,lol

I own a gun.

CrappyDom -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 4:14:21 AM)

One good thing Bush has done is remind many people why our founding fathers put the 2nd Amendment in the constitution.  It is for emergencies and people named George.

I own guns, lots of guns.

Your poll is broken.  You're asking 2 different questions and don't allow for multiple selections.

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 5:55:07 AM)

I don't own one, and I won't have one in my house.  I grew up around them though.  Let's just suffice it to say I have my reasons why me and mine will never own one unless a few extremely unlikely circumstances happen (i.e.- we become rich enough to own a fingerprint scan wall safe, and the guns are completely taken apart... it would also take my husband stepping up the persuasion several notches).  Ty's not pleased about it, because he love pheasant hunting, but he understands.  It makes me nervous just knowing they're there.

In a perfect world, it wouldn't matter who had guns because they would be properly taken care of and used only for sport.  In that case I would support owning them.  However, we live in a very imperfect society, and I therefore think guns should be banned.  Argue with me all you want, but that's my opinion and it's not changing anytime soon.  I won't argue back.  I only have personal experience telling me why they're horrible weapons.  Not facts, just feeling.

LaTigresse -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 6:09:11 AM)

I could not even tell you how many. It is the nature of the the enviroment I grew up in. I am an excellent shot with a pistol, my favourite being a Colt 45 Peacemaker with beautiful walnut grip. However I would not feel weird if I could not have them either. I don't feel that I NEED to own a gun, its just been a part of life and shooting a hobby.

Wulfchyld -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 6:10:53 AM)

I have a few critters in my neck of the woods that are quite inspirational to the ownership of guns.

mistoferin -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 6:14:55 AM)

Not only do I own guns...I use them often...I'm proficient in their use and care....and I keep them loaded and unlocked....ooooooooooo

and I wouldn't have it any other way [;)]

Yes you do. Now that my evil rooster is dead I am pretty fearless out there.........strutting around all fearless like..........

Rumtiger -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 6:28:58 AM)

Former owner, got it back when I was 18.

Maybe its best I dont have it anymore...I likely would have destroyed the ice cream truck a while back.

LaTigresse -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 6:33:56 AM)

Tig, I did keep them at a friends house while my kids were in their teens and living at home. I prefered to not ask for trouble. Now its just me and the furries and the hubby when he is not off blazing trails or whatever it is he does so I am not too worried. I don't think the cat is going to "mistakenly" shoot the dogs......lack of that thumb thing

MadameDahlia -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 6:35:38 AM)

I presently own two beautiful gems... and have taken them out to the range a few times with two friends of mine who taught me to shoot and clean them both properly. I also was offered the chance to handle some of their lovelies... and now have a craving for an M1 Carbine... hopefully with a scope... Mmm... Makes me happy.

I don't keep ammo in the house, as I live with others who would not appreciate it. It stays at my friend's house for times when we go to the range.

MistressDiane -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 6:50:37 AM)

owns guns.

kittensmailbox -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 6:54:29 AM)

i am kinda dating a guy {blowing him, whatever} who owns guns, loves guns, yadda, yadda....

Not my thing...

My first husband was a cop, we {he} owned guns, i was required to learn how to shot them...

Other then that, guns are not really my thing....

DivaZya -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 8:17:59 AM)

This is funny to Me.
I don't technically own any guns, although there's a few registered in My name - the x is a felon and gave all the guns to his dad. ha.
Anyway, My Primary owns a handgun and just bought a shotgun.  I have shot skeet in the past, and blowing the hell out of old watermelons and the like is great when there's no whipping boy available and I want to make loud noises.
Keep the handgun unloaded (or is it?) in his underwear drawer - funny again, it's simply a convienent place. The shotgun is unloaded under the bed.  The ammo is handy. coz the apocolypse
is coming.

IronBear -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 8:39:19 AM)

Own guns and use them.

kittinSol -> RE: Guns (6/27/2006 8:44:02 AM)

Hi Lev. How STRANGE you found this on the *clears throat prettily* Gor Bored.

I don't own a gun, never have, never will, and I don't see why it is an inherent 'right' to own one at all. We all know the arguments in favour of the banning of gun ownership in the US.
