Many liberals have voiced their complaints on these boards about Obama....

Yes, but that's one of those facts that the conservative allergy to reality makes it impossible for some of the neocon massive on here to assimilate.

That may be what you mean but it isn't what you say

Don't presume to know what I'm thinking.

Even if you knew it, you couldn't comprehend it.

Reread my post I was not presuming to know what you think.
And thank you for displaying the renown civility of liberals

When was the last time you saw a liberal call Obama "The most ineffective president in generations" as I have done repeatedly?

so much for that fucking theory.

Maybe because we have had a lot of ineffective presidents......George Bush I didn't exactly set the world on Fire, and Bush II left us with two wars, doubled the national debt, and the economy in ruins that we still haven't recovered from...he gave us huge cuts in taxes in the middle of two expensive wars and I can't think of a lasting legacy he left. Yeah, I have heard about national security, but the things Bush II did after 9/11 almost any president would do...and I wonder if any other president would have an Attorney General who was concerned about covering the naughty bits on statues around the justice department more then imminent terrorist attacks (John Ashcroft).

I don't think he was the most inneffective president in generations, I think he was saddled with a GOP whose only thoughts were not getting the country down to business, but getting Obama out of office as soon as possible, and it backfired on them, because while a lot of people may not be thrilled with Obama, they are scared of the GOP redneck party getting back in power. Put it this way, Obama's popularity may not be great, but the GOP's overall popularity is around 11% think they are doing a good job......

There are republicans who could lead the party forward, but they will never get elected. Jon Huntsman could have done it, John McCain before he sold out to the rednecks and the know nothings could of, there are a lot of regional GOP people who are fiscally conservative, socially moderate to libertarian who could win, problem is, the primaries are weighted towards the rednecks and uber right wing crackpots that have come to define the GOP, that have given us Michelle Bachman, Sam Brownback and the like, and I won't mention Mitt Romney. When you are the party out to make the haters and the rednecks happy, you alienate everyone else. Anyone seen the latest polls on those under 40 and the GOP? Absolute horror show, and the GOP has uber low approval ratings among independents as well. It also looks like immigration reform may not make it through the house, which is going to leave the GOP look once again to be the party of the racial bigotry.

How about that I made a mistake. My point however was not what he was nominated too or even if he should have been approved. The point was that the Dems decided, before they even knew who was going to be nominated, to do whatever they had to do stop the nomination.
This is what caused it to be as acrimonious as it was making it the opening shot in the uncivil war still going on in Congress.

You're still making stuff up. The Democrats gave him a fair hearing and he was shown to be both a jackass and a terrible nominee.

And it wasn't all that acrimonious. The fact is 6 very prominent Republicans voted against Bork. He was simply not a good choice. That he pitched a decades long hissy fit over that fact does not change the facts. The Senate turned right around and approved Kennedy for that same seat in short order without any real drama, not a single senator voted against him.

Not providing protection for an American diplomat is nothing?

There was no protection?

No Marines no automatic weapons just two ex-military who volunteered, you call that protection.

Marines have been removed from most embassy security details. The private contractors do all the real security now.

There were significantly more than 2 security guards. And they had automatic weapons, M4's at least.

Could have sworn there were 9 security officers.

Even 9 is only reasonable in someplace like London.
Paris had 40 marines in addition to civilian security.

Huge difference between inadequate and none, dont you think?

Increasing Marine Embassy Security a Challenge
Dec 26, 2012.........

Approximately 1,200 Marine security guards are posted in 130 countries, the Marine Corps Times reported Tuesday.

If my math is correct, that leaves 9.2 per embassy.

Mind a link to that 40 count in Paris? I couldnt find one.
