Has anyone completely pulled themselves off either?how was the detox?

MasterCaneman -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (6/28/2013 8:07:54 AM)

Detox? Just how much caffeine/sugar are you taking? [;)]. For the most part, I don't use much sugar except what's already in the my food or drinks. Maybe a teaspoon on my cereal in the morning is about it. Coffee, on the other hand, I've had to back off a few times, mainly because of the heartburn it causes me. You get a little headache and feel bleah in the morning, but once you start moving around it goes away.

You won't be crawling the walls and slapping off the invisible spiders, if that's what you mean.

I glanced at something during a report where this man literally went into diabetic shock. Its not the type of thing I think my cats can handle lol.So I said,no way sticking to my pop and coffee diet lol. But I really dont eat whenIm upset or busy. I basically drink pop andcoffee, very rarely willhave a cigarette.I stayed busy the last few weeks by pulling extra shifts and lurking here, instead of sleeping and other generally responsible habits lol.Id say Ive stepped that eat like crap up like crazy. I think its time to curb that, probably cut it alltogether. Google brought up people who had severe withdrawals, so I wondered if anyone had given this a go, and had any experience with removing either from their diet.the tv dr dr drew seems to feel it is a three week detox. I seem to feel people exaggerate.

I have to have one 20oz of Diet MD a week. That is only for caffeine. I avoid HFCS like the plague. I do drink a diet green tea by Arizona, a glass a day. No caffeine but it has splenda.

~FRing it~

Last year I went off coffee for 3 months after I had stomach/intestine surgery. I don't really recall the whole caffeine withdrawal hell happening to me that I've read can happen to people. It honestly wasn't bad at all

goodgirlmary -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (6/28/2013 10:05:18 AM)

Thanks for the input!

pretzelLove -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (6/28/2013 10:12:53 AM)

My wife is weaning herself off of soda and it isnt pleasant. She has had headaches, is irritable and sleeps more then our 2 year old niece. After 5 days, it is getting some better.

goodgirlmary -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (6/28/2013 10:14:14 AM)

Which day to you seemed the worst, the vwry first or a few deeper in

pretzelLove -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (6/28/2013 10:18:03 AM)

The 3rd and 4th days seemed the worst from my point of view. I was ready to string her up and leave her outside til it passed :) But this morning her mood was greatly improved.

goodgirlmary -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (6/28/2013 10:21:09 AM)

So cling to hopes of day six lol. Well, may as well start tonite.bleh lol

One last question, did she do all caffeineor just pop

pretzelLove -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (6/28/2013 11:36:01 AM)

She did just stopped drinking the pop, she is still having 2 cups of coffee in the morning. She quit smoking 10 months ago and we didn't want to take away all the fun in her life. [:D]

goodgirlmary -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (6/28/2013 11:52:01 AM)

Ok
that seems consistent to what Ive heard, the sugar is the hard to tolerate detox.
i appreciate you sharing this with me and wish your wife all the best:)

theshytype -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (6/28/2013 12:01:54 PM)

If you're a heavy soda drinker, I've heard people drop 5-10 pounds after the first week of cutting it out...that's a pretty good side-effect!

goodgirlmary -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (6/28/2013 12:13:23 PM)

Thatdbe pleasant:)

Termyn8or -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (6/28/2013 12:54:44 PM)

Everyone is different. I stopped sugar a long time ago, like over ten years. Coffee about five years ago and cigarettes almost two years ago. I had absolutley no problems.

You might be one of the lucky ones and just breeze through it.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. In this case that might mean getting a straitjacket. I'm sure someone around here can find a good deal on one :-)

T^T

OsideGirl -> RE: caffeine or sugar ween (6/28/2013 1:13:12 PM)

I slowly weaned myself off of caffeine by mixing my coffee with decaf and switching out my diet coke.

It actually made my migraines worse.

It took a while, but I did figure out what works for me. 1 cup of coffee and 1 diet coke per day. I pretty much drink water the rest of the day.

It wasn't anywhere near as bad as heroin.

Although I will add, I'm using far fewer needles now.

(And frankly, mainlining that powdered milk shit was always a bit tenuous).
