I've noticed that as well. Clearly, the CDC must be notified of this alarming epidemic and someone must be awarded a suitcase full of cash to study this immediately. And that someone should preferably be me.

>worth a shot, anyway<

The beautiful thing is, my methodology, experimentation, and documention protocols are already in place. I could utilize those funds to start building immediate results...while having the time of my life...for science, of course...

On a serious note, I have little mercy for anyone who uses tragedy for personal gain (above post notwithstanding), be it here or those scum-suckers who fake cancer in order to make money. The worst ones are the ones who use their kids as the vehicle. I've lost two uncles, two cousins, and five friends to cancer or other terminal illnesses, and to use that in order to get laid or get paid is reprehensible.

I don't believe they do it to find a partner or to seek money, they do it because they are mentally ill. People who fake illness to get sympathy have Munchausen Syndrome and quite a disturbing illness if not dealt with appropriately.

As far as faking someone's death, I think male subs do it so the intended Domme won't ask too many awkward questions. Either that or they just enjoy the sympathy.

The thing is though, we don't know who is telling the truth and who is lying. I have listened to a whole heap of tragedies on this site but I can't categorically say, I know a specific person was lying or exaggerating. I take people at face value until I find out otherwise but I'm always a little suspicious when people are quick to tell me about their bad news.

Granted, there are a number of them who have Munchausen's, but there are others who only suffer from the malady of lazy greediness and the will to exploit the goodwill of others for their own benefit, Maria.

And the faking of another partner's death is a common dodge for sympathy, kink or not. Most of the time I see a profile with that, I automatically assume it's either a married man or a guy who has totally crapped out in meeting a partner trying anything to make a connection. Both cases are sad, to differing degrees.

And it's hard to determine the truth of someone's story just from a profile. It takes face-to-face interaction to determine if they're blowing smoke up your skirts, to turn a phrase. Oh, there's some tells, like exacting contact/meeting times and places, restrictions of certain forms of communication and so forth. But there's no way to tell until you've actually breathed the same air as they have. And even then, you have to have your radar on and be in analytical mode to search out the 'tells' liars and cheaters give off.

How odd, It never occurred to me that anyone would think I was full of shit when I was talking about my late dom.

But then again, I didn't ever claim that he was young. Of course, he wasn't all that old (60's), but that is fairly relative. [:D]

And for those that claim their Dom/subs died, perhaps that is so you can't talk to the (late)person, and get the real story of why they split up. Sort of a editing strategy.

They may be part of it, but honestly, it's a sympathy fuck thing.

And every time I see someone claiming that all I can think of is Otter showing up at the women's college (Emily Dickinson College), lying that the recently deceased Fern (died in a kiln accident) was his fiancee to get sympathy dates for him and his friends while on the road trip.

And that's another thing that is totally fucked. I can understand a little, if you are strictly dealing with pluralistic play partners, but who the fuck interviews the ex when looking at a potential partner?

I have introduced the wife to an old girlfriend I am still dear friends with, but if I'd been asked for contact info to the last hellspawned bitch I walked out on, it would have been a dealbreaker. "You want what??? Get the fuck out."

I thought it was auto accidents or...had to go home to his wife.
