I agree on the clothes. When I have more free time, I'll watch each season!

ETA
I also liked Kelly McDonald in the movie "The Girl In The Cafe".

FR,

We're all caught up on 'Big Bang' and are looking for another 20-30 minute series. He's watched too much 'Everybody Loves Raymond' and I've seen 'Weeds" too recently. Most of the shows in this thread are 40-60 minute long dramas. Any suggestions for high quality shorter shows that we can get from Netflix? (I don't have cable.)

Thanks!

It's the golden age of television. Which critically acclaimed show would you vote #1?

critically acclaimed??? I like Homeland but you need showtime to watch that.. I like House of Lies.. I like The Bridge.. I like the one episode I watched of Ray Donovan (also on showtime so I cant watch it).. I like Ironside and The Blacklist & perhaps oddly enough Elementary..

but I would have to say my fav out of all of them is The Bridge...

eta- Hannibal also, cant wait for the next season..

I agree with Manboob ratnose!

also, the list is TOTALLY Hollywood-o-centric. Fuck that limitation!

BEST SHOWS? try:

Real Humans

Th Bridge

Doctor Blake Mysteries

Doctor Who (except for Matt Smith material)

Blake's 7

Black Books

Absolutely Fabulous

Misfits

Agatha Christie's Poirot

We have set up the DVR for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this season, as something we can sit and watch together. I don't believe the critics are acclaiming it, but I think it's a fun bit of escapism.

criticism is mixed, depending on country and region.

It is an excellent show, but there are scenes within episodes where Whedon is "coasting". It is, however, one of the shows where it's nice to see the actors relying on the quality of the writing/editing, rather than the 'showrunner' dependent on the lead actors. (Big Bang current season, for example)

I am a big fan of "Arrow", and "The Tomorrow People" looks interesting.

And he's doing that "damaged little girl" crap that irretrievably fucked up Buffy and almost spoiled Firefly again as well.

My favorite America centric shows are Boardwalk
Empire and Justified. Though its worth noting the
actor playing Al Capone, Stephen Graham is British.
Also Jack Huston who plays Richard Harrow is a mixed
bag of British/Irish/Italian and American. His dad is
Tony Huston son of John Huston, brother of Angelica Huston.
I'd love it if Angelica came on Boardwalk. I'm loving this
season for the most part. One reason is Ron Livingston has
joined the cast love him.

My favorite British show currently is Ripper Street along with
Dr Who of course.

I like Game of Thrones which is a hodge podge of talent.
American producers, based on a American writers books
and a prominent character played by an American actor,
Peter Dinklage. But it's filmed all over the place and has
British, Irish, Danish, German, Dutch, Australian actors.

Now I have a BIGGER reason to adore Lucylastic than her bottomtastic userpic!

(the only one on that list I won't watch is elementary)
also love Winterapple's commentary!

The Ripper Street ep dealing with PTSD from Rue Britannia wartime was one of the most accurate yet heartfelt hours of TV I've ever seen, and as good as any true cinema from any decade.

How could I forget Dr Who and GOT!!!!
dayam
Peter Dinkelage is just awesome
Jack Huston is delicious, his character and out of it.
Ive only watched season one of American Horror Story, but I much enjoyed it. And have been saving season 2 and three for later enjoyment
Hannibal was brilliant, but Im not sure dragging it out over more than one season was neccessary, however I will be looking forward to it.
And I enjoyed Da Vincis Demons too
Oh and another good series from the UK was Waking The Dead...
oh and Sherlock
I tend to save shows up and watch them in a run...skip the commercials
especially when Im up late or real early.
I like my schedule, it doesnt interfere with hockey
