naughtynick81 -> A huge hypocrisy factor within gender argument (8/1/2013 1:33:09 AM)

Why is it that if men have a right that women don't have, it would be considered sexist to suggest women have to beg for that same right or else they are stuffed.

But the other way around, it's common tactic to tell men they have to beg for a right women have that they don't?

Ya know, how people keep asking me in this forum "what am I doing about it" when I raise a male issue?

Kinda like...

If women want equal pay, they have to beg for it.

If women want no glass ceilings, they have to beg for it.

If women want no patriarchy, they have to beg for it.

Otherwise, it's deserved that males have all these privileges and no woman is ever allowed to complain unless she is willing to beg for it.

It's not allowed to be a topic unless you beg for it, even that males have these rights already.

Your thoughts?

I have read that three times and I still can't figure out the point you are trying to make. You are saying that women should 'beg' for equal pay? Because men have to beg for... what exactly?

hlen5 -> RE: A huge hypocrisy factor within gender argument (8/1/2013 1:57:25 AM)

Athena Stop!!

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: A huge hypocrisy factor within gender argument (8/1/2013 1:58:54 AM)

Sorry! I guess my female privilege got the better of me today!

naughtynick81 -> RE: A huge hypocrisy factor within gender argument (8/1/2013 2:01:01 AM)

Keep guessing

LadyPact -> RE: A huge hypocrisy factor within gender argument (8/1/2013 2:48:46 AM)

There's a difference between begging and working towards a cause you believe in.

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: A huge hypocrisy factor within gender argument (8/1/2013 4:56:25 AM)

Keep guessing? WTF? That you think anyone cares enough to play guessing games says so much about why you are unattached.

Learn to stop playing games and spend some time thinking about what you *really* want and how to go about getting it.

Most of our lives are NOT based on a cheesy porn fantasy, so get over yourself.

he is meaning why is it considered sexiest if men has a right say allowed to vote and women do not then its considered sexiest.

Yet, if a women has a right to vote and a man does not, then women dont consider it sexiest.

kiwisub12 -> RE: A huge hypocrisy factor within gender argument (8/1/2013 6:06:06 AM)

Boy, the only "right" that women have that men don't, that I can think of off the top of my head, is to bleed each month. And gosh, i'm sure there are a lot of men who want to do that! [8|]

I don't think that when people were asking you "what are you doing about it," I don't think they were suggesting that anyone has to beg. If there's a political or social cause which is sound, people who organize and protest for change are not "begging" (or "whining" for that matter). They're exercising their Constitutional rights to free speech and bringing their grievances to the government.

angelikaJ -> RE: A huge hypocrisy factor within gender argument (8/1/2013 6:10:17 AM)

If you want to have a conversation, then why not give an example that is specific, or relates to how you personally have felt your right to be whatever type of man you are or want to be has been denied.

I do not know of any examples of men being made to beg.
So, if you do, then by all means, back up your words with your experience.

My other suggestion, (and this is not meant to offend at all) - you obviously see the world so differently than most of us.
There is no right or wrong to that, but it seems as though life may be much more difficult for you than it needs to be.
It must be hard to be so angry so much of the time.

Perceptions are not reality, and feelings are not facts.

Spend time with a therapist and see if you might find a more peaceful way of viewing and interacting with the world.

I am not suggesting that there aren't things that shouldn't be changed in terms of more awareness for your issues with the status quo.
I am saying that I think some time with a therapist might help you find more effective ways to affect change in the world.

I've got to say, I'm with those who found that OP incomprehensible, Nick. Could you explain your point with a real-life example, maybe?

Hillwilliam -> RE: A huge hypocrisy factor within gender argument (8/1/2013 6:47:25 AM)

Nick. I'm going to vote with the others and say your OP was incomprehensible.

Can you try again?

Righty. Care to tell me what those women's rights are that men don't have?

Cause I can't think of any.

There is one that I can think of. Women reporters have the right to enter the locker rooms of male athletes (for interviews, etc.), but men reporters don't have a similar right to enter the locker rooms of female athletes.

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: A huge hypocrisy factor within gender argument (8/1/2013 7:43:32 AM)

Men can have the right to abortion the very second they can get pregnant. If men *did* get pregnant, you can bet abortion would have been legal much earlier.

Sorry, next?

Where's all my rights that men don't have?

Well that does sound like a horrendous injustice.

Nick - in support of your cause, I hereby waive my right as a woman to conduct media interviews in the male locker rooms during athletic events. Hope my small gesture towards gender equality is appreciated.

Okay, that's a women's right, and I agree it's sexist. But seriously, how many female reporters does this fantastic right actually effect?

Any others? Come on all you misogynists, where are you?
