People who keep saying "I'll do it" and I end up doing whatever it is.

Look them dead-pan in the eye and say, "I'm sorry, I don't smile on command."

I actually had an old geezer say he wouldn't give me my voting sheet without a smile!!

I hate that one too. I tell them that my face is in a relaxed state. it takes effort to smile and when I have something worth the effort i'll do it. until then i'm not a dog that can be commanded. or I ask them 'does it look like i'm frowning?' they'll say no, 'oh good. in that case I suggest you stop ordering me around otherwise I will be'.

i'd not actually thought about it before until I read the above, but it really does piss me off at the audacity that a person thinks they have the right to make comment on my expression when i'm not working so don't have to smile, or anything else that requires me to have anything other than a neutral facial expression.

so with you on that one. my ex was such a great 'gunna he should have been in the Army. it was always 'i'm gunna do that' except that it never got done, and if I asked more than once I was nagging.

it's the main reason why since we've split that I've had such huge jobs to get done. they started off small, but because he never did them when he said he'd do them they turned into much bigger jobs. it's also a reason why I have a stable that I can't put a horse in because it now has half the roof missing. it started as a little bit of felt coming off of the corner.

either get it done or say you won't so that I can do it, or organise for someone else to do it while it won't cost me a fricking fortune.

DesFIP -> RE: Things that really bug us..... (8/28/2013 1:31:10 PM)

When my ex did that, I gathered all the tools to do the job and put them in front of his seat in the kitchen. "Yeah, I'll get to dinner after I fix this". He always wound up starting the job.

And yes, rewiring a lamp takes less time than arguing about it does.

Omg! I can't stand it when people tell me that. Like who are they to decide what my face should look like and that it's not up to their standards? It's like a little power manipulation that they want to play because it strokes their ego or something. Ugh. Then when waitressing you have to give in to get a tip- bastards!

Edited to add... 6 ) MEMPHIS DRIVERS!...lol

I'll see your Memphis drivers and raise you. Jersey drivers.

pfffft. Miami drivers make both of you look positively sane.

DesFIP,my step dad is from New Jersey and even he admits the drivers in Memphis are worse...plus a large percentage drive without license or insurance making it even more fun in an accident. Hill,I know anywhere with a large number of senior citizen drivers can be interesting but at least they knew how to drive at some point in their lives and remember from time to time how to do it...far too many in Memphis never learned how to drive correctly in the first place....[8|]

I'll back punisher up on this one. Memphis has some of the worst drivers
in the world. It's full of people who are the driving equivalent of
dog paddlers. Lots of people driving without licenses or insurance in
addition to drivers driving vehicles that shouldn't be on the roads are
in no short supply. There's also a good chance the car next to you
was stolen as Memphis has one of the highest stolen car rates in the US.

I couldn't even articulate at the moment why I was so pissed off. I live in a small town and didn't want to make a scene. I wasn't as forceful as I would have been to a man my age, he was just clueless.

When I go into a convenience store to grab a coffee early in the morning while I'm waiting for the bus right outside, thinking I have some time to get a coffee, get to the counter and the cashier is just standing there....doing either nothing except staring at her hands or chatting with the other cashiers who are doing absolutely nothing so you have to then yell at them and ask them who is going to drive you to work if you miss your bus because they can't be arsed to ring up a cup of coffee!

MasterCaneman -> RE: Things that really bug us..... (8/29/2013 8:28:33 AM)

High beams. I drive a lot after sundown, and I've noticed a lot of people leave the high beams on all the time, usually coupled with their fog lights. I drive a smaller car, so either oncoming or behind me I get blinded. Flashing mine doesn't seem to register, and more than once I was tempted to start packing an air pistol. My current fantasy is to get an aircraft landing light wired into my back hatch so when one of those assholes comes up behind me I can give them a taste of their own medicine.

I would suggest a Golight Stryker GL-3151 Wireless Remote Control Spotlight with Dash Mount Remote, peak beam intensity 200 thousand Candela

What pisses me off? Having to press one for English! Shouldn't you automatically hear it in English!
