Pretty good article:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/aug/23/pruden-up-to-our-ears-in-snake-oil/

Here's some good quotes:

On the contrary, what frustrates Al and the snake-oil industry is that the skeptics can no longer be shut out of the conversation. “We can expect the climate crisis industry to grow increasingly shrill, and increasingly hostile toward anyone who questions their authority,” Kenneth P. Green, a former member of the U.N. panel, predicted three years ago. Another former panelist, Dr. Kimimori Itoh, a Japanese physical chemist, calls the phenomenon “the worst scientific scandal in history. When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists.”

The U.N. panel concedes that global warming has in fact given way to global cooling...

We were scheduled to see an enormous melting of polar ice by now, but even the ice won’t co-operate. The U.S. Navy forecasts twice as much mid-September ice this year as it measured in 2012.

I'm not sure whether to laugh at how absurd of an article your taking your material from; Or shake my head in disgust at how little you understand science. I'm often amazed at the level of 'stupid' in Americans that see science as a religion. Since their religion is often wrong, therefore, science must also be wrong. Yet, not one of them can sit down to actually learn the material they slam on an hourly basis. Yes, as the information age has grown so to ironically are the number of ignorant morons in this nation.

Your not going to find very many scientists that are credible in arguing on whether or not Climate Change is taking place. Nor on the ways it is taking place. Those arguments have long since been over; Climate Change based on the evidence is taking place and at an alarming rate. Right now, scientists are trying to determine the best possible course for the planet. The problem here is that those without scientific backgrounds, learning's or just plain wisdom see scientists arguing on things as 'they aren't 100% certain of anything'. An that scientists do not take the time and debunk all these screwball morons that rant and rave towards the uninformed masses.

But there is an industry that caters to the clueless, ignorant and stupid on the subject of Climate Change. They make tons of money removing folks like you of your hard earn money each and everyday. For if you were to ever sit down and just learn the subject in-depth, you'd place the real snake oil salespeople out of business!

Based on the evidence I have so far learned, the Theory of Climate Change does seem the most likely way of explaining the evidence gathered so far. I've read the material, studied examples of regional change in my own 'backyard'. The only ones that remain unconvinced of the science are the ones that fall in the following categories:

1 ) Those that stand to gain a profit as the planet's ecosystem is wrecked
2 ) Those that follow silly religious beliefs entirely devoid of both intelligence and wisdom
3 ) Those that are to scared to have their belief system challenged by the science
4 ) Those that really are ignorant of what science 'is' and 'isn't'
5 ) Those that feel science must be as much about politics as religion
6 ) And those that believe in the 'Zero Sum' equation; if one sided 'loses' the other side has to be correct

AAahhhhhh, yes, an OP ED from the good old Washington Times.

The RW version of the National Enquirer.
One of my agents used to subscribe and I read it avidly after he was done. Funny as fuck.

The Flat Earth Society still exists in the Space Age, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that AGW deniers still exist when the sea has started coming into New York.

But of course if there was big money to be made denying that the world is round, there'd probably be a lot of people still believing that "the science isn't clear," or that it's a great conspiracy by all the world's geographers, navigators, astronomers and space scientists, who are in the pay of the Illuminati to bring about world government.

You forgot to mention all those nasty Lefties who are conspiring to use rising sea levels to re-distribute wealth more evenly. I guess when we are all up to our necks in salt water, the poverty gap might seem slightly irrelevant ........

You mean, using the conspiracy's lies about rising sea levels. It's not really happening, you ought to know, same as the droughts and blizzards and floods aren't really happening: it's all a lie by the left-wing media.

NASA says there are lots of factors that determine climate but there is an "observed relationship" between temps on Earth and the sunspot cycle. According to David Hathaway, a scientist at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Hunstville, Alabama, "we are now in the smallest sunspot cycle in 100 years."

The commodity advisory services are advising investors to invest in natural gas and fuels based on the NASA data calling for COLDER winters. . (you know, the guys who put their money where their mouth is)

onionskins or longjohns, that is what is at issue, ultimately. Not that there is or is not human induced climate change, thats near unanimous among the actual climatologists.

They have to "prove" that man is the cause for any climate change to advance the "redistribute the wealth agenda." That prosperous countries have to "repay" the poor countries for the resources we "stole" from them in the form of a carbon tax.

OH, you mean put the wealth back in the pockets where it came from? I dont think even nutsuckers are advocating carbon tax to give to other countries, so I am unsure of what you are slobbering about there.

What does your jingoist nutsuckerism have to do with anything real or topical?

Tweak, if that's true then why did AlGore buy a mansion on the beach in S. California about two years ago?

Natural gas being plentiful, clean and cheap would have nothing to do with it now would it?

As long as no U.S. Taxpayer Dollars are involved the "global warmers" (or whatever they're calling themselves this week) can say or do whatever they want.
They can wear their green blazers and beanies (with the propeller on top) and have a bathroom plunger sticking out of their asses. "Hey,....there goes Dom....."

And I feel the same about the nutsuckers or whatever they are calling themselves this week, unfortunately, they are spending all our money.

Nope, I mean the nutsuckers, you know, they have the majority in the house, along with their libertarian and independent nutsuckers.

Funny you know so little of the world of politics, science, and finance, but nevertheless comment on it so prolifigately.

So, next time a hurricane washes away half your beach and clogs the shipping channel with sand, you're totally cool with no federal dollars fixing the problem right?

I'll put it to you then. From your article, I want from you and others in your belief, to tell me just exactly how the Al Gores of the world are proifiting from their stance on climate change and sea levels. Throw in carbon, CO2 and the like if you need to.

We know the opponents are profiteers, it's their fiduciary responsibility to exploit all the earth's resources for a profit. So how does AL make money on all of this ?

BTW, I don't need science, lakes in Canada that failed freeze-over, 3 times in 100 years have now failed to freeze 6 times in the last 18 years. Rising sea levels effecting the sea-side property of a former R-Gov. of S. Carolina he has been telling people...is killing his pine trees.

For those in doubt, do some research on the melting of fresh water on Greenland. MILLIONS and millions of gallons per day is going right into the sea.

Ah, but al of this is not really happening hey ?

Imagine if Greenland was to melt entirely. We;d seriously be fucked.

Let's try a different, and possibly worse, aspect of emitting so much CO2.

One thing that happens when the amount of CO2 increases in the atmosphere is more CO2 absorbed by the oceans. Sounds great, the pesky stuff is out of the air and it's all good right?

WRONG

When CO2 is in solution in water some of it breaks down and forms carbonic acid thus as the amount of CO2 in the water increases the Ph decreases. So who cares? It's a really small change in Ph. Everyone should.

You see a substantial number of the organisms that live in the seas build shells out of calcium carbonate. Unfortunately calcium carbonate dissolves in a low Ph environment and is also slower to build up. So what no one really needs to eat shrimp, lobsters, clams, oyster etc.. Unfortunately for us many of the very tiny organisms that make up the base of the ocean food chain also build shells out of calcium carbonate and those shells are very very thin indeed. Another aspect of this is the phytoplankton, tiny free floating plants, produce most of the oxygen we breath. And yet another corals obviously produce calcium carbonate shells and the build up of those produce coral reefs which provide shelter and habitat for an enormous part of the oceans biodiversity.

These organisms could adapt given enough time but we are changing the Ph so fast that we are already finding significant thinning of shells and slower production of new shell. If ocean acidification was the only stressor on those organisms we'd likely not be in any trouble but add in pollution and we are in danger of collapsing the ocean food chain and disrupting the production of the very oxygen we breath as well as destroying the habitats and nurseries for many of the ocean organisms not directly dependent on calcium carbonate.

So if you are willing to deny all of physics that says CO2 is a photon trap and will warm the atmosphere will you also deny basic chemistry?
