Status: offline 		It's a funny thing, I thought only women lied about their age, but in the last year I must have had at least 20 men lie directly to me about their age. Also, by photographs that men publish of themself, I can see that there is a lot of dishonesty going on regarding age. Why is this?

With multiple BDSM websites, and people often sticking with the same user names that they are known by, it's very easy to compare one profile against another - something which I routinely do if I am being contacted by a potential Dom.

One Dom was lying by at least 15 years! Others routinely lie 6-7 years, anything up to 5 years is commonplace. Why bother to lie about something so petty?

I understand that some websites don't update your age automatically, but if you only joined 2 years ago, then how can it be 5 years out? Lol.

The common wisdom is that men grow better with age and that women enjoy the company of an older man. Is this no longer the case? Are men now under pressure to fake youthfulness to be considered attractive? I often hear older women complain that men their age are only interested in younger women. But are younger women becoming increasingly willing to select for younger men, pushing older men out of the dating loop too? And will older men become more and more dishonest about their age as time goes on, or begin dating more within their age range, thus freeing themselves of the pressure to lie?

And finally, why would a heavily wrinkled person with veiny hands ever think they could pass themselves off as a 38 year old? You can't always tell whether someone is married, or cheating, whether they're being honest about their job or where they live, but somebody's age is pretty much written all over them. So why lie?

I am going to be 60 in November, and I don't lie about it. I'm proud of each gray hair, at this point I call it 'frosting' and move on.

Status: offline 		There was a man I was talking to from here a few years ago. His profile said he was 58. Turned out he was about to be 61. It was an intentional lie - he felt old and thought being in the 60s would be a turn off. He came clean before we met and yes I met him anyway. He was a very cool guy but we weren't compatible for anything long term. Plus it always kind of irked me that he'd lie about something so silly.

Approximately 99.99 % of the men I've met from here have lied about their age; deliberately, not just overlooking the need to manually update it. Most by 3-5 years, one by 9 (he said he was 47 but later admitted to being 56). All of the men have given me the same reason for their lie: that the number of women who will respond to their messages here drops precipitously after their posted age is 50+.

What it tells me is that those men will lie to get what they want. It is an excellent thing to know about them from the outset.

Status: offline 		Grrrrr Thank you for reminding me that this site doesn't automatically update age. I was at 48 and won't be 49 for a few days but I changed it, anyway.

I thought the code for auto-changing the age was fairly easy? There's another place where I hang out where the main site auto up-dates but the chat room does it by year so, someone born in december of '64 will show up as 50 years old, as of 01 JAN 14. I thought this code was fairly easy to do. Doesn't it have some relation to a "perpetual calendar" thing?

Status: offline 		I don't see any need to lie about my age. I'm 43. Anyone who has that big a problem with it is someone I don't want to deal with anyway. Take me as I am or good luck finding what you need elsewhere.

I know one guy that had a profile that stated his age, a couple years later his profile stated his age as 5 years younger than he was when he first joined...I want to know his secret to growing younger There was another guy who used to post here, who even stated his age in a post then a few years later said he was 10 years younger in a post. I still wonder how he and his feathered friend is doing

Status: offline 		I'm not looking for women so don't know what they do, but my experience has shown that it's a given that men always lie about their height, and they also usually about their age. The height thing doesn't bother me so much, probably because I prefer shorter men, but the age lies piss me the hell off. I have a right to be looking for someone within my preference range, don't take that away from me.

I get tired of men pushing their preference for younger women by using the "age is just a number" reasoning, and then throw a fit when younger women pass them by. By God, don't these younger women know that they're supposed to accept older men just because the men want it that way? These women aren't supposed to have preferences! Women, by contrast, do not do this on the age subject that I've noticed, although they surely have their entitlement issues too.

I don't know why either sex lies about whatever it is that they lie about with their physical appearances. It's going to be obvious at first meet what's up. I guess these people either don't meet, or figure by that time the other person will be invested in them enough to overlook the discrepancies.

I always add 25 lbs, subtract 50 iq points and increase her lady pocket circumference to that of a industrial sized bucket whenever I view a profile. :)

Both. I must admit that the latter worked with me, although the initial lie hums in the background for me still. Plus lately I've been thinking, he says he's 5'9", but when I put my 5'2" self in 4 inch heels we are eye to eye.....

Pretty much every single website I've ever been on does. It's one of life's little mysteries why CM doesn't add the single line of code necessary to allow their site to do the same.
