Wow...he is all over the map!

He really looks like a amateur.

I wonder if the President had any idea on what he was expected to do before he decided to derail Mrs Clinton from her Presidency???

I wondered who would be first.

How funny that those shouting about Obama not asking congress, now piss and moan because he has said he will.

Guess who posted the following.....And it wasnt me.

quote:

should the President call a joint session of Congress and asked them to declare war, and should Congress vote to do so, I would firmily support the President and the war effort.

So would folks prefer that the President act without consulting Congress? Or not act at all?

Who's pissed?

First of all in matters of foreign policy and as the Commander in Chief of the United States Armed Forces, the President does not need to "ask" congress if there is a clear and present danger to the Country.

He is certainly NOT asking for a declaration of war either, though again, if the President did, and if it passed and war was declared by Congress, I would support the war effort.

The President is looking quite foolish.

Other than your analysis of his vacillations, what do you think of his actions?

I, for one, think it's great. I certainly hope he's not authorized to use military force, too. I know he's convinced that the Assad regime used the chem weapons. I just don't know, though. It seems way too early for that determination, imo. Too many conflicting reports.

Yeah. I'm so relieved he made another decision (just because that's the kind of guy he is, y'know) that he was going to let Congress carry out their Constituationally assigned duty.

A friend pointed something out elsewhere. "No boots on the ground," may be the big selling point, but for special forces types, type of footwear is optional.

If my country takes the steps to go to war, I'll look at the way forward from there. Until such time, I am opposed to taking such an action.

I think his actions are too much, too little too late.

President Obama has been all over the map throughout the entire "Arab Spring" movement and its after math and it seems, since he now seems like he was never willing to back it up, that his "line in the sand" about Syria's use of Chemical Weapons was of his worst mistakes as President.

Amazingly enough, he isnt constitutionally required to have Congress' approval first.

He is president and needs to do as he sees fit. My understanding is that, like Cameron here, Obama didnt need authorisation.

The fact both men have chosen this route will allay public fears, if we eventually decide to act.

Parliamentarians voted against taking action, especially without any manadate. Lest we forget this crap has been going on almost continually since the first Iraq war. The second Iraq war just opened the floodgates.

I gave him a call and he decided to listen to me...about time.

What could possibly be wrong in consulting Congress on such a divisive issue?

Lmfao, you are now debating your own fucking words. See post #2 for details.

FYI, I didnt say you were pissed, but that you are pissing and moaning, not the same thing at all.

It's almost like someone's opinion changes based solely on opposing whatever the President does.

I think the United States really has no horse in this race and would be best served sitting it out or at best beefing up Israel's defenses. However,, should the President call a joint session of Congress and asked them to declare war, and should Congress vote to do so, I would firmily support the President and the war effort.

I'll go with the assumption that he's been all over the map since the Arab Spring. Great. I don't give a fuck about what he did during the Arab Spring. Can't change that now, can he? Syria is now. Almost right now. A decision had to be made. The closing of the window of opportunity to actually impact the situation positively is imminent.

Was there a single "movement" with a one-size-fits-all solution?
