FR

I have never had difficulty sorting through fakes. There are plenty of real people on this and other sites.

Given all the press recently about how unsecure data is on the Internet, I think a site like this asking for such personal information would be a mistake.

And, yes, I understand the poster is suggesting an optional thing. However, everyone should be aware that there is no way that this (or any other site on the Internet) can possibly keep any personal information safe and secure from those who might want to retrieve it. We have proof positive that the NSA has access to pretty much everything on the Internet. So my honest advice to the site would be, let's not bother with this. The site has ZERO ability to actually verify that people are who they say they are; the site will face liability issues if they claim that "verified" profiles are absolutely real (and turn out not to be so); and the site cannot guarantee that others, including, and especially the government, will not have access to this private information.

For those of you who want to share this kind of personal information on the Internet, please do so. I don't think anything stops you from posting more personal information in your profile. But anyone who thinks that such information will remain "private" has not been reading the newspaper the last 6 months. Proceed with caution.....

Well at least someone agrees without trying to put words into my mouth. As for the ones who disagree your the types of people I would avoid because you truly have something hide meaning you cant be trusted. I could never be with someone I cant trust. As for my information being hijacked, why would I care? I have been online since 12 baud modens. I have more then 200 accounts on the internet. Some for games, some for email accounts, some for web space, and even domain names none of which have ever been hacked. People who get hacked, get hacked because of something stupid they did like clicking links, or opening emails from people they don't know, or taking files from strangers. Its called key loggers people, and if your dumb enough to do it, you deserve to be hacked. Another good example of how to be hacked, letting strangers use remote applications like teamviewer on you. Seriously? I am a non profit webmaster & freeware programmer & I know better then to allow people this type of control over my computer or then to take shit from people I don't know. Any files or content that I receive that I think is shady I take it apart to make sure there is nothing hidden in it before I ever open it. In my opinion your all just making excuses because you don't want people to know who or what you really are. I have nothing to hide... Perhaps you do, and if so your the types of people I want nothing to do with.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Suggestion for CM (9/9/2013 3:24:41 PM)

Buh bye. I was supportive of an option as long as it didn't interfere with non verified, but your comments here show me that it wouldn't matter if someone was verified or not, there are still things we need to learn on our own.

I'm happily married to my Master and have been for 13 years. We are active in our local community, have good reputations and have even presented some lectures and discussion groups.

Feel free to avoid me. I'm sure I'll be heart broken that some internet wanker, hiding behind his computer screen thinks I can't be trusted.

~FRing it~

The thing Id like to know, OP, is this:

What honestly makes you think people give one rat's tiny ass what you think about them?

TigressLily -> RE: Suggestion for CM (9/9/2013 7:44:31 PM)

There is a personal ID verification via VeriSign, which I had done on my eHarmony profile because I thought at the time it would make a difference. It's an optional feature, already included in the membership fee. (Unlike Match.com, which doesn't offer this and is chalk full of empty-shell profiles of trawlers, you have to sign up with your first name displayed, not with a username.) Guess what? I don't see anyone else's profile flagged as such except mine!

VS takes your name, address & SSN, no Drivers License info, then verifies limited data:
You are who you say you are. Your full name is not made public.
Your actual birthdate--Age only is publicly viewed.
Your location (full address is not disclosed, just City & State)

quote:

ORIGINAL: TnCuck4Mistress

Your real information would never be open to other members other then have a text or image on your profile saying verified. Anyone that has an issue with that is the type of person I would avoid because they are clearing hiding something or are doing something wrong.

The problem is it doesn't verify your marital status, educational background (degree, alma mater), employment, credit history (not that certain info is anybody's damn business unless you're applying for credit somewhere). The site itself lets you upload whatever everyday-type photos you want, so no way to know how old they are, whether these are even photos are of that individual. Kind of like anything anywhere else on line. A separated girlfriend of mine who was on Ashley-Madison for 6 months tells me everybody lies about everything there--well, what can you expect from a website comprised of unabashed cheaters, with a third of the men being horny single guys looking to hook up for a one-night stand with a similarly horny 'clean' married woman?

You are still left with having to do your own legwork. You could be married Joe F*ckwit with a fake ID or using a relative or friend's vitae to pass as your own. In fact, he could also be a bigamist with 3 wives & 6 kids strewn all over the world. People who are intrinsically dishonest are going to find any number of ways to perpetuate their dishonesty. That's just life.

Btw for OsideGirl: Just to let you know, TC4M & I have posted on some of the same threads before, and from what I've discerned, he's not one of these fake wannabes hiding behind their computer screen that I run across virtually every day on the other (profile) side. IMHO he's the real deal.

I once verified my identity on a pay niche dating site. I received a discount off the membership for verifying. That's the only reason I did it, and was uncomfortable and displeased about doing so.

That site had far less membership and only resulted in two dates, neither of which lasted past a second date. By contrast, I've had far more success with the free collarme.

I would put far less trust in the verification procedure you described as I would in getting to know someone via meeting in real life and dating, where I can see for myself if he is how he portrayed himself and observe if his actions match his words.

DesFIP -> RE: Suggestion for CM (9/23/2013 9:19:08 AM)

OP, from a practical pov, every woman here has stated categorically that we would leave if this was a requirement.
Can you not see that your suggestion would make being here useless to you because there would be no women here for you to meet?

Is that what you want? To guarantee not meeting any women because there would be no women here?

Women don't need to pay and offer proof to get laid. Even an old lady like me can get someone at the local bar who would be grateful to have sex with me in exactly the manner I like it.
What we seek are the intangibles that no id can give. Do you pay your child support? Are you kind to your elderly mother? Do you fight fair? Do you even know what that means?

Missokyst -> RE: Suggestion for CM (9/23/2013 9:40:04 AM)

I always wonder about these type of threads. Why is it so hard to tell when a profile is real... ish? The first time you get sent to a pay site it is fairly evident they are out for cash. Ok.. MAYBE you have exchanged a few emails back and forth, is that really a waste of time? Is it any worse than meeting someone and dating only to find 3 months down the line that everything they told you was BS? How would "verifying" ID have helped?

If you want to avoid the paysites, it is easy enough to spot and avoid. Really. Look for trends.

Hello,

I have been on this site now off & on about 10 years. I have been fortunate in the past to have had the people I met from here actually show up when I went to meet & serve them. I have noticed these past few years though a lot of the people who contact me or that I contact have not been honest with who they are though & when it comes time to meet or take things to the next level I end up getting a link to an affiliate site, some cam site, or some demands to go to another site or messenger program where they then demand money from me.

I wanted to suggest that CollarMe.com add the option/feature to validate its members meaning people can send in a copy of their Drivers License or State ID to prove they are the person in their profile. Like you see on Alt.com & a few other sites. For nothing more then peace of mind that the person you see on the profile is in fact the person you are talking to & not some random pictures that someone has googled.

Its just a thought & why should anyone have a problem with it unless they are not who they claim to be. I have nothing to hide myself.

That's always been my view too. I mean face it....the impossibly hot, 18 year old girls, that pretty much indicate that any man will do.....is likely fake.

Verification won't weed out the people that truly waste time (cheaters, desk top Dominants, and wannabes), it's simply a crutch for people that don't/won't use common sense.

Likely?
You are extremely generous.

NoBimbosAllowed -> RE: Suggestion for CM (9/23/2013 8:56:52 PM)

we're discussing fakes and e-Harmony gets lauded?

e-Harmony is one of the biggest goddamn fakes I've ever seen (no offense to lovely people here that use it). The cross-referencing of bloody yahoo personals "back in the day" was better and had more cultural range.

NoBimbosAllowed -> RE: Suggestion for CM (9/23/2013 9:03:56 PM)

has anyone mentioned the fact that fakes never post non-generalized musings in forums?

I'd suggest to the OP that maybe they look to see what a potential partner has said in conversation and dialogue, particularly when it comes to personal recollections or preferred non-vanilla arrangements with people either limited to eros or including romance.

Most people who give a shit about something say - at least - a little bit about something, outside of private conversation.

Lots of bimbos and duhrwads buy some fetish gear to "walk the walk" at Folsom Street Faire, but the moment you ask them a single direct question about Lifestyle you find out pretty quick if they're a Chanteuse from Berlin's darker corridors or just one more wannabe Lady GaGa bimbo. And the men one more hetero version of a Twink, just leathering-it-up to get some spare Strange to blather about on his twatterfeed later on.

Every legal cam modeling site requires a readable scan of your driver's license to make absolutely certain that you're old enough to be broadcasting as well as for tax purposes. The only conceivable reasons I can think of for collarme.com to NOT make this an opt-in feature is that they are happy with all of the fake profiles that fraudulently inflate the number of users that they have.

MissKittyDeVine -> RE: Suggestion for CM (10/5/2013 11:02:32 AM)

Did anyone notice that the pram-tosser on the other 'fake' thread failed to insult anyone for being fat?

How disappointing ...

kalikshama -> RE: Suggestion for CM (10/5/2013 11:21:36 AM)

From the other fakes thread:

quote:

It is in their best interest to allow/encourage the fakes & scammers as it increases the member count - which is how they base the ad rates. More users = more ads = more money for the owner (and not a penny for those hard-working volunteers).

I see this get repeated a lot. My company spends over $300,000 per month on online advertising and the cost is based on number of impressions, not members.

What I see get repeated a lot is the conjecture that a member on this forum thinks they know what someone else is thinking, what their motivation is and how much money that person is making. In this case the someone(s) are the owners.

TigressLily -> RE: Suggestion for CM (10/5/2013 1:35:39 PM)

For the record, NBA, nobody was lauding eH. One of the biggest mistakes I've ever made insofar as throwing away $ AND I'm stuck with membership for another half year. (What was I thinking? Should be posting this on jlf's Biggest Mistakes new thread.) Perhaps I wasn't clear in illustrating what an exercise in futility it is to get VeriSigned when nobody else elects to do so. Nor would it be a free service for a free website such as we have here.

FYI, other than initially getting matched with dudes out in Ontario, BC & Australia (his closest match was in the Philippines), I get matched with every freaking Civil-War re-enactor around due to my interest in history. Yeah, Ancient & Medieval History. They should be sending all the jousters and Renaissance-Faire goers my way (not that I want them either).
