FR I have never had difficulty sorting through fakes. There are plenty of real people on this and other sites. Given all the press recently about how unsecure data is on the Internet, I think a site like this asking for such personal information would be a mistake. And, yes, I understand the poster is suggesting an optional thing. However, everyone should be aware that there is no way that this (or any other site on the Internet) can possibly keep any personal information safe and secure from those who might want to retrieve it. We have proof positive that the NSA has access to pretty much everything on the Internet. So my honest advice to the site would be, let's not bother with this. The site has ZERO ability to actually verify that people are who they say they are; the site will face liability issues if they claim that "verified" profiles are absolutely real (and turn out not to be so); and the site cannot guarantee that others, including, and especially the government, will not have access to this private information. For those of you who want to share this kind of personal information on the Internet, please do so. I don't think anything stops you from posting more personal information in your profile. But anyone who thinks that such information will remain "private" has not been reading the newspaper the last 6 months. Proceed with caution.....

Any files or content that I receive that I think is shady I take it apart to make sure there is nothing hidden in it before I ever open it. In my opinion your all just making excuses because you don't want people to know who or what you really are. I have nothing to hide... Perhaps you do, and if so your the types of people I want nothing to do with.

Buh bye. I was supportive of an option as long as it didn't interfere with non verified, but your comments here show me that it wouldn't matter if someone was verified or not, there are still things we need to learn on our own.

There is a personal ID verification via VeriSign, which I had done on my eHarmony profile because I thought at the time it would make a difference. It's an optional feature, already included in the membership fee. (Unlike Match.com, which doesn't offer this and is chalk full of empty-shell profiles of trawlers, you have to sign up with your first name displayed, not with a username.) Guess what? I don't see anyone else's profile flagged as such except mine! VS takes your name, address & SSN, no Drivers License info, then verifies limited data: You are who you say you are. Your full name is not made public. Your actual birthdate--Age only is publicly viewed. You are still left with having to do your own legwork. You could be married Joe Fckwit with a fake ID or using a relative or friend's vitae to pass as your own. In fact, he could also be a bigamist with 3 wives & 6 kids strewn all over the world. People who are intrinsically dishonest are going to find any number of ways to perpetuate their dishonesty. That's just life. Btw for OsideGirl*: Just to let you know, TC4M & I have posted on some of the same threads before, and from what I've discerned, he's not one of these fake wannabes hiding behind their computer screen that I run across virtually every day on the other (profile) side. IMHO he's the real deal.

I received a discount off the membership for verifying. That's the only reason I did it, and was uncomfortable and displeased about doing so. That site had far less membership and only resulted in two dates, neither of which lasted past a second date. By contrast, I've had far more success with the free collarme. I would put far less trust in the verification procedure you described as I would in getting to know someone via meeting in real life and dating, where I can see for myself if he is how he portrayed himself and observe if his actions match his words.

OP, from a practical pov, every woman here has stated categorically that we would leave if this was a requirement. Can you not see that your suggestion would make being here useless to you because there would be no women here for you to meet? Is that what you want? To guarantee not meeting any women because there would be no women here? Women don't need to pay and offer proof to get laid. Even an old lady like me can get someone at the local bar who would be grateful to have sex with me in exactly the manner I like it. What we seek are the intangibles that no id can give. Do you pay your child support? Are you kind to your elderly mother? Do you fight fair? Do you even know what that means?

I always wonder about these type of threads. Why is it so hard to tell when a profile is real... ish? The first time you get sent to a pay site it is fairly evident they are out for cash. Ok.. MAYBE you have exchanged a few emails back and forth, is that really a waste of time? Is it any worse than meeting someone and dating only to find 3 months down the line that everything they told you was BS? How would "verifying" ID have helped? has anyone mentioned the fact that fakes never post non-generalized musings in forums? I'd suggest to the OP that maybe they look to see what a potential partner has said in conversation and dialogue, particularly when it comes to personal recollections or preferred non-vanilla arrangements with people either limited to eros or including romance. Most people who give a shit about something say - at least - a little bit about something, outside of private conversation. Lots of bimbos and duhrwads buy some fetish gear to "walk the walk" at Folsom Street Faire, but the moment you ask them a single direct question about Lifestyle you find out pretty quick if they're a Chanteuse from Berlin's darker corridors or just one more wannabe Lady GaGa bimbo. And the men one more hetero version of a Twink, just leathering-it-up to get some spare Strange to blather about on his twatterfeed later on.

Every legal cam modeling site requires a readable scan of your driver's license to make absolutely certain that you're old enough to be broadcasting as well as for tax purposes. The only conceivable reasons I can think of for collarme.com to NOT make this an opt-in feature is that they are happy with all of the fake profiles that fraudulently inflate the number of users that they have.
