So now it's anti-guns and bears? Cool. I'll make an offer.

For any person on this thread who considers themselves anti-gun, I'd like to invite you (at your own cost, of course) to fly here to the great state of Alaska. I agree to pick you up at the Fairbanks Airport, drive you the hundred miles to My home, have you as My guest for dinner, and provide you overnight accommodations. The next morning, I will drive you twenty miles west of My home so that you can camp for a week. After which, if you are still walking and breathing, I will sit and listen to how glad you were that you didn't have a gun.

Can I bring my gun ? [8D]

Thanks for the Nietscheian input, though.

That's spelled with a "z," not an "s," you know. It kinda spoils the appeal to (faux) authority when the attempt has that sort of dumbass mistake.

Personally, I'd advise that you did. [;)]

Um...what bear to firearm ratio specifically?

He did not give a specific ratio but he was saying that bears kill more people IN THE PARKS than guns

thansen669 -> RE: Lets have another gun - antigun thread... (9/11/2013 10:39:34 PM)

Thank you for clarifying that, of course talking about how many people are killed by guns is state parks seems...pointless? Did I miss something?

This isn't Alaska, this was a well crowded public park.

A three yr. old child is dead, and due to idiotic parents and the laws enacted, she is dead, and any other number of kids could have died from the incident.

Glad you feel happy and self-satisfied about that.

Good thing she was killed by her parents in Idaho or Wyoming, and not by a bear in Alaska.

I see your point.

Nope you are right on top of it.

Considering that this *is* Alaska, My offer still stands. Any time you'd like to go out there to the woods for a week, without a firearm, I'll be more than happy to help you facilitate it.

No. I was pointing out the ridiculous nature of the appeal to emotion.

I mentioned having a firearm along on a camping trip. An assumption seems to have been leapt to that the trip was into a national park. It wasn't. I do most of my camping either in state or county facilities, or, when we can pull it off, on private land where nobody cares if the bonfire and booze run far into the after midnight hours.

Yes, individual freedoms are a "cancer" that burdens everyone in a society, including even those who insist on them. In fact, this unfortunate inability of "freedom loving" peoples to know what's good for them is a problem that has vexed many a great mind, and apparently you are one of them. Congratulations. When do you plan to leave?

Sorry, but your or anybody else's pointing a 45 at me (legally or not) doesn't tell me anymore about what 'freedom' is than any any government or philosopher does.

Thank you for your reply. I always appreciate it when someone responds to what I actually said, instead of making shit up and trying to substitute wild imaginings for a intelligent response. Thank you again.

K.

There are also many other children who were killed by criminals who could have been stopped by their parents being armed but it would have been against the law for those parents to be armed. Which child's is more important to you?

Yep a three year old is going on a shooting spree.
This was caused not by the law but by negligence.
You are the only person who seems to be taking any pleasure from this death as it gives you the chance for your paranoid rant.

The entire post is an exorcise in paranoia.

I've always found it hilarious that public gun toters refer to those who don't carry in public as 'paranoid.'

quote:

Since bears kill more people don't you think we should ban them from the parks or at least not let them run free, freedom is after all the greatest danger
.

As Heretic pointed out, the human/human killings in national and state parks need to keep up with the bear/human killings.

Point taken.

thansen669 -> RE: Lets have another gun - antigun thread... (9/11/2013 10:51:00 PM)

Again, which child's death is more important, the one accidentally killed by a legal gun or the one intentionally killed by a madman with an illegal that could have been stopped by a legal gun.

Which child's death is more important?

Nobody said those who don't carry are "paranoid". You're just making shit up to smear people. What's paranoid is imagining that every time you step out of your house you're surrounded by "madness" because people who disagree with you choose to carry.

thansen669 -> RE: Lets have another gun - antigun thread... (9/11/2013 10:54:38 PM)

You are saying good people should be disarmed and helpless in the face of sick killers because there is the risk we may accidentally harms ourselves?

No I only refer to people like you who act like my guns are going to sneak out hunt them down and kill them.
I don't care of you carry or if you own a gun.
Just as I have the freedom to own one you have every right not to.
I have no desire to force you to own one and equally oppose your trying to interfere with my rights

Edwynn -> RE: Lets have another gun - antigun thread... (9/11/2013 10:56:50 PM)

I see the point.

If someone else had a gun at the ready, they could have stopped that three year old child form shooting herself by shooting her first.

That's what public carry is all about.

thansen669 -> RE: Lets have another gun - antigun thread... (9/11/2013 10:57:11 PM)

Edwyn, are you saying the law abiding people should not be allowed to defend themselves against sickos because they may accidentally harm themselves? Yes or no?

thansen669 -> RE: Lets have another gun - antigun thread... (9/11/2013 11:03:17 PM)

I'll answer it for you Edwynn, yes you do believe that. You believe that the public at large is stupid and irresponsible and that you know better than them. You believe the public needs to be controlled and forced by people like you who are so much wiser.
