ORIGINAL: NoBimbosAllowed "My first question is who decides on what a troll is, it is a term often bandied about during an argument by two people holding differing view points. Who gets to decide, the complainant, the moderator, you, me ? If someone posts something you dont like, the mods can only take action as and when you complain about said post. You, like me, tend to reply in kind and as such we have no rights to moan about poor moderation." Ah yes, the whingeling pseudo-goodie-goodies who just wait to poke the bear and then complain should their delicate widdle ears suffer the slightest growl. if trolling is aggression, passive aggression is merely a spineless form of aggression, thus trolling as well. I haven't read the entire thread, but I find certain things to be common to most message boards I've frequented. I suppose over the years, I've gotten kind of a thick skin, as I don't generally get mad at what other people write on a message board. I know it's hard to resist the temptation to lash back when someone is goading you, but it sometimes seems like a no-win situation. I'm always reminded of this old cartoon, which may sum up the situation you're describing: [image]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-83srh7ODgng/UF1NyyFyKbI/AAAAAAAABfM/gzvqpyhPioo/s640/Needle_and_Threat.jpg[/image] I also try to put things into a certain perspective. After all, it's only a message board. It's not the end of the world if a thread gets locked or pulled. Sure, it might be a disappointment if I take time to write a post only to find the thread has been locked or pulled, but I try to take it in stride. It's not such a huge deal to me, so I just let it go. If I'm arguing with someone about a particular issue, I try to keep in mind that it's the issue that's important to me, not some anonymous individual on a message board who may not like me. But I agree that can be difficult if someone is taking some digs and intentionally trying to provoke an angry response. As to trolls, I have somewhat mixed views on trolls. Some are actually quite clever and humorous, so I'm not usually one to immediately dismiss a troll on sight. Some people say "don't feed the trolls," but they're going to find ways to get fed, one way or the other.
