I think you're referencing my opining that our FBI counts all gun deaths as homicides although a third are accidents and a third are suicides. Then I wondered if Scotland Yard kept track the same way or only counted gun deaths by murder as homicides. It would make a difference in discussions with the Brits because they quote our homicide rates compared to theirs. They may be comparing our murder/suicide/accident rate to their murder rate.

Bama, the major reason I carry concealed is that I philosophically believe the more honest citizens who carry concealed the fewer women raped and the fewer people assaulted or violently attacked. I believe that gun control puts citizens at risk and in servitude to the government...which is offensive to me. Every person should be able to look anyone else in the eye on equal terms.

In all seriousness: I like Americans, Bama, overall. That's one reason I'm still here on CM, after all these years as a minority. I like that they're so straightforward and so warm. They're earthy in a way that we Brits generally aren't. But I don't like that they kill each other so easily and so readily. A decent, basically good man, woman (or boy or girl) suddenly is turned into an 'outsider' - he (it's usually a he) is not an American anymore, he's an 'outsider' an 'other'.

I just wish you guys would look after each other a bit better, that's all. I want to see Americans as one giant family, seeing each other all right, and I keep getting disappointed when you turn on each other. I just do not like seeing a people making a virtue out of hurting each other, that's all. You've done more than well enough now to be able to sort out the poor, ill and the mad. I don't get why it's such a virtue not to start to do that. I don't get why you lot pioneered something amazingly new and then . . . just stopped.
