It seems that among the "essential" employees of the Federal Government are National Parks construction workers using heavy equipment to place more stable "Barrycades" to stop 90 year old men from visiting an open air bronze and concrete memorial.

Thats what they do when teabaggers shut down the national parks, its like 17 years ago, all over again. Your spelling is atrocious. It is barricade, and essential.

I saw a news report about that, yesterday. I think the reason for the extra armaments might not only be because these nonagenarians are obviously a clear and present danger to the memorial erected to celebrate their service to their country but also because they had a quote from a park ranger that said: "I'm not going to stop these guys from going in there. I'm a veteran, myself" (words to that effect).

Ordinarily, I'm a pretty "law and order" type but I felt that the ranger probably expressed what would have been my sentiments if I had his job.

They've furloughed a lot of Parks Service employees. So I'm guessing they're probably barricading monuments because they don't have enough people to guard them against vandals and criminals and keep homeless people from sleeping in them. There's also liability issues - what if somebody snuck into a closed monument, fell and got injured, and tried to sue the government?

Fat fingers on a smart phone without spell check. I will attempt to fix essential for you...

But.... the other...they will be going down in history as "Barrycades"

mnottertail -> RE: Barrycades (10/2/2013 8:55:08 AM)

I think they will go down in history as teabags.

FatDomDaddy -> RE: Barrycades (10/2/2013 8:56:01 AM)

The WW II memorial is an open air structure of bronze and concrete.... it's costing more to keep out 90 year old men than it would to staff the memorial.

mnottertail -> RE: Barrycades (10/2/2013 8:56:24 AM)

Uh, horseshit.

FatDomDaddy -> RE: Barrycades (10/2/2013 9:06:20 AM)

Please.... the Lincoln Memorial is normally opened 24/7 with barely a security guard after hours. They are now doubling the guard staff and fencing off the area to keep people from sitting on the steps.

Maybe they should errect a privacy screen so people can't look at the Washington Monument.

mnottertail -> RE: Barrycades (10/2/2013 9:08:16 AM)

doubling the guard? You national park service? You have a credible citation for that?

FatDomDaddy -> RE: Barrycades (10/2/2013 9:21:01 AM)

It would seem your indignation over these 90 year old men using passive resistance isn't shared by the 100s of people posting picture all over the internet of construction crew using heavy equipment and building fences on The Mall, not to mention all of the extra Parks Officers there today.

mnottertail -> RE: Barrycades (10/2/2013 9:23:25 AM)

Well, it may or may not, and I am not indignant, but your impugnation is typical horseshit, the teabaggers can pass a clean continuing resolution and it is over, but as I say, no citation, and I thought not. Hysterics.

FatDomDaddy -> RE: Barrycades (10/2/2013 9:27:46 AM)

Dude....I am on a phone...lemme get to a PC. later tonight and I'll start cutting and pasting just to make you happy.

OR...

You can find dozens by googling Barry-cades.

mnottertail -> RE: Barrycades (10/2/2013 9:31:01 AM)

OH, no doubt the twatwaffles are all over the fucking net, with their frenetic masturbations, they are not credible, and the teabags being placed will be remembered one way or another. Now, that is an eliding, and a derail, because I asked for a credible citation about doubling the guard around the Lincoln Memorial, something you have stated occurred, and it is so extravagant a claim, that it would need credible citation. I did not ask to be awash in fuckheaded commentary from teabagging imbeciles. It is not credible and not a citation.

So is your sentence structure and diction.

First word. Is it [thats] or should it be [that's}? Hmmmmm? Well, oh great teller of proper usage?

Twelfth word. Is it [its], being possessive, or should it be [it's], being the contraction of [it is]?

Would you like some cheese with your whine? [8D]

So, now onto the Teabags being placed at the National Parks. What do you think they should do, what is their due diligence here?

It's costing them a lot to have unpaid government workers put up barricades the government already owns? We're talking about waist-high fences that look like two guys could easily lift them, anyway.
