And yes there were barricades up around everything except the Well.

No DS... it's pretty much about the grandstanding the Administration is doing on The National Mall by ordering steel barriers and mesh fences around National Monuments for no reason and calling the employees making overtime and using heavy equipment to do so "essential".

All the Museums were closed and there was fencing and barricades at the reflecting pool and the Lincoln, IIRC the Washington was closed for repairs already. We didn't get over to the Jefferson so I don't know about that, it was late December and a stroll along the Potamac was not appealing. I remember because the whole point of going down there was my friend wanted to get some really good pictures of the sites and we brought his high end cameras and tripods etc. and couldn't get to the steps to get the shot looking up the Mall to the Capital. We did get good pics of the Lincoln from the other side of the Pool and of the Wall and the three soldiers statue near the Wall.

So, the teabaggers are pervasively statist, thats evident. Where in the constitution are there national parks? It seems to be more borrow and spending by the 'republican/independent/teabagger/conservatives'. Looks like grandstanding and overreaching by them.

As is the VA so those 90 year old veterans can have a peaceful place to die there in the park, while the funding is cut, and they are lied to.

Posts that were more appropriate to the shutdown and made no mention or connection with the barricades at the park, the parks in general or at least linked something from the OP into, have been pulled. Does anyone but the lunatic fringe think that the President micro manages the park service.[:D] It`s a bit cowardly to cause the shutdown and all that goes with it and then blame others for what the shutdown causes... Those are the leadership skills of pond scum.
