I should also point out that the minneapolis airport bathroom is closed to teabagger 'caucuses' as well. It also was teabagged.

And I'm sure you're disappointed [8D]

mnottertail -> RE: Barrycades (10/9/2013 2:03:34 PM)

Nope, teabaggers are an endless source of amusement to me, their lies, their drooling, their mental defects, their ineptitude, their innumeracy, their uselessness, the buffoonery of their myrmidons, the dipshit antics of their janissary.

So, the teabags are in place at the parks, and do we know if fed workers are now furloughed that set these which it would appear would be cause for this thread to quit, since it is the part and parcel of the thread?

lovmuffin -> RE: Barrycades (10/9/2013 2:43:52 PM)

Substitute the term liberals for teabaggers in the first paragraph and I think you would have that correct.

Lucylastic -> RE: Barrycades (10/9/2013 2:44:57 PM)

yet is you who has your facts wrong
strange that

mnottertail -> RE: Barrycades (10/9/2013 2:47:07 PM)

Oh, teabaggers are liberal with other peoples money and freedoms and liberally lying horseshit so it is correct as it is written.

Awwww.......yer just sayin that. But maybe there is some kind of documentation to show who's money they're being so liberal with.

The mall, the park, whatever. One thing is clear, this president wants to make a big production over the shutdown and inflict as much pain as possible. It's way over the top shutting vets out of the memorials while at the same time illegals are having their protest at the mall. It's freakin repugnant as are the things you listed on post #257.

What's repugnant is the House GOP playing games with my survival and the survival and income of millions of others.

Everything I have been hearing and reading is Obama can use executive orders to direct the money there is to whatever is needed the most. So he makes a big production of closing the parks and now I hear that families of deceased veterans won't be getting their death benefits. A real class act.

Statement by Secretary Hagel on Death Gratuities

... In the last 24 hours, however, the Department of Defense was approached by the Fisher House Foundation, which had generously offered to make payments to these families from its own funds. In consultation with the Office of Management and Budget, DoD has determined that we can enter into a contract with the Fisher House Foundation to provide these benefits. The Fisher House Foundation will provide the families of the fallen with the benefits they so richly deserve. After the shutdown ends, DoD will reimburse the Fisher House for the costs it has incurred.

I'm glad to see a private entity stepping up and filling the gap.

Wrong. The President must have a law authorizing him to spend any money. The Pentagon specifically told the House when they passed the bill that guarantees that soldiers would get paid that these death benefits would not be paid unless authorized by the bill they were writing. The House Republicans left it out so the Pentagon can not pay those benefits. I'm very happy Fisher House has stepped up.

Yes, it's a good thing the Fisher House stepped up. But since when has the constraints of the law stopped Obama ? He unilaterally and unconstitutionally decides to alter the ACA how he sees fit. If he is going to decree that businesses and corporations can delay compliance on the mandates for a year why can't he extend the same thing to individuals ? I wonder if he could break the stalemate with a compromise on that.

Not only that but the House has passed a number of spending measures that the Senate has refused to act on and Obama has threatened to veto.

Yet another lie. The ACA has waiver provisions. If it did not the Republicans could sue the administration for granting those waivers. Why do you believe every load of crap told to you by the right wing echo chamber?

The President has already compromised, the CR is set at the sequester spending levels. The President has not demanded any tax hikes or other concessions from the GOP. He has just said send him a clean CR and then a clean budget.

And no one is so ignorant to fall for that piece meal crap. The House would reopen the stuff people deal with a lot and leave the parts the corps hate, EPA, FDA, USDA, CFPBV closed forever. We're not that fucking stupid.

And I knew that and my bad for leaving it out. I'm glad as well but it still does not give the Obama administration a pass.

From the U-T San Diego editorial board

"The Obama administration insisted Tuesday it had no choice but to withhold death benefits to relatives of 1st Lt. Jennifer Moreno, a 25-year-old soldier born and raised in San Diego, and four other soldiers killed since the partial government shutdown began Oct. 1."

"On Wednesday, CNN reported that on Sept. 27, days before the shutdown began, the Pentagon was already telling reporters it planned to suspend death benefits."

"So for two weeks, the Obama administration has been anticipating this nightmare would come to pass — and did nothing to pre-empt it. Only when the Pentagon began denying death benefits and the backlash began did the White House realize this ploy was a political misstep and seek a fix."

"Just this month, the federal government has authorized the spending of billions of dollars since the partial shutdown began without explicit congressional approval. Contrary to the Obama administration’s representations, there are not hard, definitive rules governing how the executive branch must act during these budget fights. That is reflected in the amazingly arbitrary ways that the federal government has shuttered some services and agencies but not others — often with the barely hidden goal of making people suffer to build pressure on House Republicans to give in to the White House. For one of hundreds of examples, the Armed Forces Network serving U.S. military personnel abroad still shows news — but it has stopped showing NFL games, blaming the shutdown"

Only after the shit hits the fan, then the Fisher House comes to the rescue.

"Soon afterward, the White House announced that the Fisher House Foundation — a private organization that helps veterans in need — would provide the death benefits and be reimbursed after the partial shutdown. At about the same time Wednesday, the House voted unanimously to authorize paying survivor benefits."

Oh ok Ken, I guess that's apposed to believing everything coming out of the left wing echo chambers. I suppose I'll have to try and look it up but ya know, out of the 2,400 page bill dwarfed only by the pages of regulations from it and those to come, there is likely some conflicting information out there. As I thought I understood it, there was a time frame on the wavers and Obama is tweaking the law as we go. Even if this isn't the case, he could extend the waver to individuals also.

BULLSHIT!
On Friday Sept. 27 the Pentagon informed the House GOP
quote:

We would be required to do some other bad things to our people," he added, saying the Pentagon couldn't immediately pay death benefits to the families of troops who die on active duty and would have to close commissaries where many military families shop.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/09/27/usa-fiscal-defense-idUSL2N0HN23I20130927

As to how the executive spends money during a shutdown there is a law that says how it is done and the President would certainly be being attacked by the Republicans if he ignored it. Since there has been no mention of the antideficiency act it is safe to assume the President is obeying the law.

So I ask again, why do you believe what ever crazy shit gets spewed out of the right wing echo chamber?

The individual mandate is a very painless measure. If you don't buy insurance all that happens is you get a smaller return. The feds cannot collect the fine in any other way. Why delay that?

Owner59 -> RE: Barrycades (10/9/2013 10:37:22 PM)

I bet most cons don`t know the individual mandate was a Heritage Foundation idea,

Oh the irony.
