Not at all, Joether. His view is just as easy to grasp as it is to hold in contempt. His basic worldview is that of a Marxist, and we are "bitter clingers" and enemies who need to be punished.

His basic worldview is that of a Tory (the right wing of Britain, and I daresay he is a royalist (a republican to the untutored). You wouldn't know a fuckin Marxist if it hit you in the ass, as your views are aligned with Alinsky.

I think he was talking about the President....... I havent even run for office yet.... [8D]

You nailed me, politically speaking, Tory and pro Monarchy (TINA) just not quite proud to be Tory with the current lot of arsewipes we elected.

Errr Apologies to all the left wing luvvies, I get that you voted for one half of the brothers grim. [;)]

Yes, she fainted right on cue didnt she. [8|] Next you wil be claiming anyone on stage is a prop, unless its a republican stage, in which case insert "honoured guest" for "prop".

That's a really pathetic strawman argument, Polite.

No, he is pointing out the hypocrisy of conservatives. In that conservatives accuse all others of stuff without even a shred of evidence, but expect us to believe bewildering tales as total truth.

Really? Is it more pathetic than calling a woman who fell ill a prop ?.... Are you suggesting any president giving some kind of speech has never done so with an audience, or before his supporters.
No Rich, like it or not the real strawman was labeling the poor woman a prop.

It has been shown before that Obama has had questions staged, and wasn't truly fielding questions the asker came up with. That is, everything was planned in advance. The video Yachtie linked to sure makes it look as if it was a bit planned. While I'm not saying it was definitely planned and that the pregnant lady was planted their as a prop, I'm also not naive enough to think that a situation came up that was used for political gain.

Unfortunately even without an ounce of evidence, your STILL making the leap of logic to accuse the President of some sort of wrong doing. Not one conservative has been able to dislodge the evidence to....WHY....she might have fainted: being pregnant and a type 1 diabetic. Yes, rather than go with the evidence on the table, you wish to make up mighty bullshit arguments based on....NOTHING. There is nothing to entertain here that the situation was anything but it was. Again, why is it conservatives can not accept the President is a decent guy, and does the gentleman thing to help the lady out in a time of need.

She was swaying before anything happened, as Joether pointed out. The young lady did help as the pregnant woman was swaying, as you'd expect. Obama seemed to turn around just a bit early to be a reaction to her faint. He puts a hand on her shoulder, then turns back to the microphone to make a joke (this is what happens when I talk too much [paraphrased]) and then turns back to the woman. Once Obama turned to the pregnant woman (her legs buckle), the lady that had her arm around her made no motion to help. That's a bit conspicuous.

Actually, DS, that's called poor reflexes. Notice in the video the man standing directly behind the woman in question placed both of his hands on her shoulders and braced her as she was wobbling backwards. On an the man on her immediate left whom also helped brace her more directly?

It's entirely possible the event went as reported by the media. It's also possible the event was staged. I don't believe either is completely accurate. I do believe the action wasn't pre-planned, but was used as a tool by the President.

NO. There is NO EVIDENCE that this could have been staged. That's the point! You of all people, can not accept the idea that what happened, happened on its own without planning. The President made a joke to deflect possible dishonor to the lady in question; THAT'S WHAT A GENTLEMAN DOES, boys. Yes, I call you all boys, since anyone that has been a gentleman to a lady could tell the difference. In order to be a gentleman, one has to be both male and adult. All these accusations are junior high school material! Smart people, believe or not DS, can make jokes on the spur of the moment. Notice at the end of the video of mine what the press core does? They clap their hands in approval.

I'm also not so naive to think that President Obama is the first President to use such tactics. I have not seen evidence of any other President doing so. Nor, have I heard any claims that happened. I take anything with a skeptical view to start anymore (since 2005/6).

2001, New York, New York, Mid-September. For any American, they know what this time frame represents. Then, President George W. Bush stood with several firefighters and other emergency workers with a bullhorn an gave a speech. [paraphrasing here] "I heard you" The President says looking towards someone off camera, "And when we learn who did this, they will hear from us too!". Could this all have been staged? I have no EVIDENCE that it was staged. President G. W. Bush was guilty of a huge number of misdeeds during his two terms in office. This one moment of his role as President is not one of them. What is the difference? There are multitude of videos over on youtube.com of the President and many of his cabinet stating Iraq had massive stockpiles of WMDs, and later stating they never said anything like that. That is both history and.....EVIDENCE.

Here is the actual video of what I'm talking about. What is it the President Bush does at the 8 second mark? Is that...*GASP*....a JOKE? On Hallowed ground!?!?!?!? If we were to insert 'conservative logic' here, George W. Bush had staged this whole thing. Go ahead and try to bullshit your way out that you wouldn't have done this, if he WASNT supported by conservatives. This is just one more piece of evidence that President Obama did things honorably and nobly towards someone else, and EVERYTHING is above board and honest here.

So here is the question: Why is it conservatives are totally, absolutely incapable of congratulating the President on doing the right thing at the right time and in the right place?

Not an ounce of evidence? There's circumstantial evidence in Yachtie's video. Now, I want you to read the the part I put in bold that I wrote before and you even quoted...

Sure did. Yet, the woman with her hand around the woman's back, who was also holding her hand, had no reaction when the lady fell? I had a pet rock with better reflexes.

A gentleman just might, perhaps maybe, make sure the lady is okay before going back to the mic and making a joke. I didn't have a problem with the joke. It was humorous. The timing, though, is suspect.

TheHeretic -> RE: The Gentleman President (10/24/2013 5:58:51 PM)

There should be a distinction made, between the presence of a pregnant woman (single, I suppose) behind the President as prop while he made his initial excuses for the failures of the website (note I said initial, because as the facts start coming in, the story is going to change), and whether or not the fainting spell and his response was staged. If she was supposed to do something while standing there, by definition she would be an actor, not a prop.

A Gentleman is one that helps others feel safe, comfortable and ok, regardless of the situation around them. Being about to say some good heart felt words during a funeral, to cracking a few jokes during a hurricane that forces the laughter for a few moments. They may be far from perfect individuals, but they try to make the best of a bad situation. The President was in one such situation and handle the situation with dignity. However you feel about the man, there is no knocking his effort to remain a gentleman even when many in the country tear each other apart over one issue or another. Most gentleman do not get mad very often; when they do, it is rarely out in the open for others to see. An when something happens that would bring embarrassment on to someone else, these individuals typically deflect the attention else where. Thereby protecting the individual from ridicule and insult.

The President did something very noble and decent.

He's still a putz but....a putz with enormous class.
