Status: offline 		I came across some photos that were part of my presentation folder. (Big shows required that you present photos)

7lbs of soap in the pot:


Soap after 24 hours in the slab mold. This was a blend of Lavender, Clove and Patchouli that a friend of mine named "Tantric"

Here is what it looked like when it was cut:


I have some better photos but they keep scanning as PDFs some I'm trying to figure that out.

Status: offline 		Oside!! I love that scent combo!! Can I try it? Do you remember the ratio of the 3 oils? Clove is pretty potent. I don't want it overpower the other 2.

Status: offline 		I believe it was something like 3 parts lav, 3 parts Patch and 1 part clove. It was very earthy and dark with just a hint of top note from the lavender. Very popular with men.

Add it early, the clove accelerates trace like crazy.

Lookie...that's not soap, it's a syndet bar. They legally can't even call it soap which is why they call it a "body bar".

I realize you were trying to be funny, but it just points out how people have no clue about what they're buying.

These are the ingredients:

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate - detergent
Stearic Acid - a natural waxy hardening agent
Coconut Acid - unsaponified coconut oil
Sodium Tallowate - soap made from deer or beef fat
Water
Sodium Isethionate - detergent
Sodium Stearate - soap made from stearic acid
Cocamidopropyl Betaine - detergent
Sodium Cocoate - soap made from coconut oil
Fragrance (Parfum)
Sodium Chloride - salt to harden the bar
Propylene Glycol - antifreeze (it provides "slip")
Tetrasodium EDTA - preservative
Tetrasodium Etidronate - preservative
BHT - preservative
Red 4 (CI 14700), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Yellow 6 Aluminum Lake (CI 15985), Yellow 10 Aluminum Lake (CI 47005) - colorants

That doesn't sound good....and I have another 150 bars in my pantry.

Now what do I get?

This is for Lookie too...

You can easily find homemade soap on the interweb. E-bay and Etsy.com has literally thousands of people who sell it. Look for a Cold Process soap. ( it's the type i make from the recipe). You can find it in pretty much any fragrance you like. They will prolly range in price from $4-6 per bar. But. You'll save on moisturizers and lotions.

JstSub- for eczema I would suggest either un scented or something with JUST oatmeal in it (colloidal oatmeal would be ideal). But. Check with your dermatologist first.

Status: offline 		I would suggest you find someone that sells a hand made Castile (at least 80% olive oil) or what is called a Bastile which is a high olive oil soap with some coconut or palm kernal oil. With out scent or EOs.

Dr. Bronner's is NOT castile, regardless of what the label says.

Vermont Soap Company actually sells soap by the loaf, equal to 7 bars for $30.00. They have a good product.

Just as an FYI: I had a very stubborn patch of eczema and finally found a cream that had calendula and jojoba oil. It finally got rid of it.

Just don't make food in it again after making soap with it.

I usually recommend that people buy as much soap equipment as possible from Goodwill and Salvation Army. Things like stainless steel or enamel stock pots, plastic pitchers, stick blenders and crock pots since the items should not be used for anything other than soap after being used to make soap.

I love handmade soap and I used to purchase handmade soap from a local slave. She was a sculptor and made all those custom whips I have. She also made casts of her small naked slave girl sculptures and used them for handmade soap molds. It was good soap, like my grandma used to have. The kind that left you squeaky clean.

Since then, I moved and lost touch with her so I went back to using Dr. Bonners Magic Hemp & Peppermint soap because it leaves me squeaky clean. I use Dr. Bonners shave cream, liquid soaps, bars of hand soap and conditioners etc. I love that stuff. My slave hates it and claims that if it leaves your skin squeaky clean, it has stripped all the oils from it. I agree and I like soap to actually clean me of the oils and leaves only my clean skin behind. If I wanted a layer of oil on me I wouldn't have washed in the first place.

Does anyone know why some soaps actually clean you, as in squeaky clean and other soaps don't? Anyone got a recipe for that? We have an extra crock pot and if I could make good soap with my house logo on it, I would make home made soap . . . the first time. Then I would teach the slave and make her do it from then on in. :)

I wish I could see her face when she reads this . . . I can hear it now, "oh boy, yet another laborious domestic task in which I can prove my dedication to Master. Much better than simply buying soap at the store. That only takes two minutes, where is the torture in that when you can stretch it out and make it take hours?" If she doesn't say it, I know she will think it.

You keep soap in a pantry??
Maybe the words have different meanings but over here a pantry is a place where you keep food.
I would never keep soap or other similar products anywhere near food.

That's damned expensive!
I use a moisturising gel and that costs me about 60 cents or less and lasts me about a month if I only scrub once a day.
$30 seems an exorbitant amount to pay for soap - even hand made stuff!

I've tried all sorts of soap, even the moisturising ones, and like RS, I don't want my skin to feel greasy or oily after having a scrub down.
Most soaps have always left my skin very dry afterwards too - which I hate.
And, in our house, any bar of soap goes soggy and melts in just a few days and is wasted.
