Wow, color me not shocked at all that only 6 people enrolled on the first day. 1) The federal site didn't fucking work. 2) The sites that did work were the ones run by individual states, which had a lot more enrollment and do not appear to be counted here. 3) There are dozens of plans to choose from, with tons of different features - choosing a plan is not a quick one-day decision. 4) None of the plans start until Jan 1, but you have to make a down-payment when you enroll, so almost everyone is still window-shopping at this point. If you had to buy a new car, had to choose from a bunch of models you weren't familiar with, and you weren't going to actually receive the car until 1/1/14 but had to make the down-payment upfront, would you purchase the first day you could, three months in advance? Most people wouldn't. Most people would take time to read up on different car models, look at their budget and what they need from the car, etc, and then wait until December or even January to buy.
