"The Orlando Sentinel reported that Zimmerman was en route to the Seminole County Jail in Sanford, according to Sheriff Don Eslinger. The Sentinel said it was not clear what happened or what crime he's accused of committing.

WESH-TV reported that Zimmerman was accused of domestic violence by a girlfriend in the unincorporated area of Apopka. The station said sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call, and that several sheriff's office vehicles were at the home."

I guess this means he will have to turn over his gun(s).

AND it looks like George Zimmerman is spending the night in jail pending an afternoon court appearance ( perhaps for arraignment ) -- apparently Standard-Operating-Procedure in felony domestic violence cases.


FYI: Florida Law requires the suspension of your concealed weapons permit if you are arrested for an act of domestic violence. FEDERAL LAW prohibits a person convicted of an act of domestic violence from using, owning or possessing a firearm.

and even in a deal where he is let off by the court for whatever, the ATF can put restrictions on your possessing guns anyway.

So Florida Republicans protected a criminal for political reasons....

When someone kills another (i.e. MURDER) and never held accountable for it, it just emboldens the individual to break other laws. Since what sort of laws match the seriousness of murder? Since that silly court verdict, he's had run-ins with the law in several states. If your going to say your a 'law abiding citizen with a firearm' that IMPLIES you follow the laws. Whether you agree with them or not, you must follow them. If he keeps up this line of breaking laws so regularly, I think its fair to question whether he was indeed not guilty in the Florida case.

George Zimmerman's one of these fellas where the question isn't "Will it end tragically?" but rather "When will this tragedy end, and how many more innocent people are going to suffer before it's over?"

"Deputies said at one point, Zimmerman pointed a shotgun at his girlfriend, 27-year-old Samantha Scheibe. He also broke a table, pushed her out of the home and barricaded the door with furniture.

Deputies received a call from Scheibe around 12:30 p.m. Monday and when they responded to the home three minutes later, Zimmerman was there and was not armed. He was arrested and booked, said Chief Deputy Dennis Lemma of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

Zimmerman has been charged with aggravated assault — a felony — domestic violence battery and criminal mischief. He offered no resistance when he was taken into custody.

Lemma said there were no injuries suffered by Scheibe. Lemma said that if a judge decides to grant Zimmerman bond, the Sheriff's Office has asked that he be placed on electronic monitoring."

One can't help but wonder, seeing his track record of late, what run-ins he had with the law prior to becoming notorious world-wide?

There were two which had been widely mentioned iduring the reporting on the Martin shooting:
— July 2005, Zimmerman was arrested and accused of resisting an officer with violence near the University of Central Florida campus after a scuffle with police. The charges were eventually dropped after Zimmerman entered an alcohol education program.

— August 2005, Zimmerman's former fiancee filed for a restraining order against him, alleging domestic violence. Zimmerman responded by requesting a restraining order against her. Both requests were granted. No criminal charges were filed.

I wasn't surprised he was arrested but I was kinda shocked he had gotten a new girlfriend so soon and I am having a hard time finding sympathy for anyone stupid enough to hook up with him.

Did I miss the link where all the jury members were republicans? I know you wouldn't make a claim like that without some kind of proof, right? You do understand how the jury system works, right?

He shoots blacks, he attacks women. I hope no unfortunate queer crosses his path .....

Mr Zimmerman seems to have a lot of problems relating to other human beings as anything other than target practice. Altogether a nasty piece of (ahem) work ......

FR a lot of people with be heartbroken if this turns out to be as groundless as when his wife made the same claim.
