From a small town in the UK.....(so no global view here)...How the US and it's people, it's government....more directly, how GWB is presented here, is quite a significant factor. It's unfortunate that he appears such an ass but I can't be sure how Blair is portrayed in other countries, either. The USA is a recognised major player on the world stage and it can be a little worrying that his religious/christian views are significant. We have an equal amount of people that we ,individually, regard as asses in our government, frankly. I have to *put up* with Blair representing the UK abroad, it doesn't mean that he represents ME with his views or that I uphold his policies. He holds the mouthpiece, I do not. The US does *appear* to be very nationalistic. This doesn't represent the entire US ...but it's a common notion that gets fed to us. Is it a fair and representative idea of the US as a whole? I just cannot know this. Personally, I'm not proud to be British.........I HAPPEN to be British......by a coincidence of birth I am living here. I appreciate the benefits of being born here and I'm comfortable with the UK culture because I've imbibed it.. I don't *love* the UK........I don't know what it's like to live elsewhere. I know what it's like to visit other european countries but not what it's like to live in them. I am learning about the US just through interaction here......it's refreshing to speak, listen and digest things about US culture and views from the *people* themselves, so to speak; day to day things, not the political arena. Regards, agirl
