Okay so this is probably lame to y'all but...
This year we got a REAL tree. I've never had a real tree.
We went through and picked the perfect one out. Decorated it! It smells so nice!!!
The guy at the tree place even cut a piece of the trunk off so I could make a "my first real
tree" ornament! I was so giddy over this. We decorated it in old fashion
Christmas decor. I'll post a pic.

Do y'all have a tree? What's it look like ?

One thing you have to remember with real trees. Do not under any circumstances, let it dry out. Over the holidays, dry christmas trees are the contributing factor to most of the house fires that happen

Love you tree. I can't have a real tree because of owning an in home day care, plus we use to put real candles on the tree and lite them on Christmas eve well we sang silent night. That stopped after my Dad died a few years ago. I will post mine as soon as its finish being decorated.

It looks great. I'm a bit jealous, because the boss doesn't want a real tree.

Ours is going up this weekend, I'll try to remember to post a picture. Ours isn't classy like yours though, we go for kitsch and mis-matched, sorta like the North Pole vomited Christmas cheer into our living room.

Your tree is lovely and it's HUGE!!! Don't think I've ever had one that big.

For the past 8 years I have had an artificial tree due to living in the motor home. There was just no space for a real one. Now that we have a mobile home we have room for a real tree. I know we're getting a real one because Gary bought a tree stand already. Yippee!!! We have no ornaments for it but can make them.

Yes, I am crazy about feathered creatures. I have a dozen chickens, 3 ducks, 5 geese, and 2 parakeets.

Revise that number. Just got 14 new chicks and 5 turkeys.

The tree looks lovely.

We only really get real trees here, unless you want to pay a ridiculous price for some miniature artificial thing. I always spray mine with hairspray to stop the needles falling. This year we are making an arty tree out of wood we have collected from the river bank. I will post a picture if it ever gets made!

Am intrigued by the flattened dog on the left too

I have a wood stove. A real tree would dry out in a day.

Prelit artificial one. And I love not having to untangle lights.

Very nice tree! I remember when i was young decorating the tree was a great event.

Since I am usually away during Christmas now I put up my Charlie Brown tree. It is beyond cute.

Make sure to keep some water in the base, it will slow the tree drying out.

Also put down a blanket or something to catch the needles that fall off.

I'd keep it watered. The shellac in hairspray is flammable as hell. There was a Mythbusters episode that covered this.

That dog is CoCo's pillow pet. She lays on it when I turn on the fire.

Thanks y'all for the advice! :)
And thanks for the compliments!

Post pics of your tree when you get em up!

I decorate but don't put a tree up anymore.

Its gorgeous!
Growing up in NH we ALWAYS had a real tree.
I moved to NJ for a while and had a fake one and I hated it.
But now I'm back in NH and pretty soon I'm going to be moving to an apartment ON A CHRISTMAS TREE FARM! I am giddy.

Growing up we always had really eclectic ornaments, and now I usually decorate it like that still.
I'll be sure to come back and post a picture of ours once its up!

I've only once seen ice on a tree in those conditions where the sun turns every crystal into a refractor and you see all the colours of the rainbow. My little hypothesis is that this is what inspired people to put lights on Xmas trees. Wonderful sight. Still, that's a pretty damned good tree-decoration, K. Well done!

Any chocolate baubles on the tree yet? I have a standing tradition with a friend and her kids: I steal one of the chocolate baubles, then replace the chocolate with a note, rolled into a ball of the same size, on which I've written 'IOU one chocolate bauble. S. ' The kid who finds this and pulls me up on it gets a hearty festive punch in the gob.

Beautiful tree K!!!!

I haven't had a real tree in years. When the kids were little, their allergies and asthma kept us from getting real trees and they hated that every year.

But a fake tree means I can put it up early and don't have to worry with stringing lights (mine's pre-lit ... I'll have to see about posting a picture).
