I bet every single one of those states has a law against practicing medicine without a license. And when a doctor determines that an abortion will save a woman's life, someone without an MD should have no say so in the matter.

Well, perhaps.
I know of no cases where the courts have ruled taxpayers must fund abortion in contravention of state law.
I know of no cases where the courts have ruled that states cannot bar insurance companies from covering certain procedures....
But- perhaps.

I couldn't have an abortion. I knew I was pregnant each time, the moment I conceived. I felt each baby's spirit and I felt connected and protective immediately. That's me. However, I had a childhood friend who got pregnant and she desperately felt the need to climb out of her own skin. She felt invaded. She was suffering. I offered to house her, take her baby, give her child back, if and when... but she needed to not be pregnant. So, I helped her get the abortion. I was religious back then and wondered if I would go to hell for participating, for driving her there, holding her hand and taking care of her afterwards.

You see, I believe it's her body, her choice - period.

About this law. Well, I'm ticked off that this misogynistic BS is still going on. The suffragettes said that until women learn to unite on their own behalf, as men do, then they will not experience the freedoms of men. Women failed to unite!!!

Secondly, I'm tired of women who are pro-choice, whining about the religious right's successes in politics. Stop blaming the government. In America - WE are the government. If "they" are better at getting laws passed than "we" are, then stop criticizing them and copy their strategies.

And stop wasting time paying attention to the debate. Who cares if someone disagrees? Just get the agenda passed. Period. Saying, "Wow" is not enough.

Yeah. Like that's when women get abortions.

You're a GUY, why are YOU telling any women what to do with their body? What give you the right to say what happens with someone else body?

truckinslave -> RE: Michigan 'Rape Insurance' Bill Passes Into Law (12/13/2013 8:55:32 AM)

Oh gee lemme think.
Maybe since I got drafted?
Maybe since women vote for people who decide whether or not I can smoke crack?
Maybe because the I am a natural born citizen of the United States of America?

What a puerile argument.

Again, just plain silly.
You and I both know that the vast majority of abortions are 100% for he sake of convenience.
Period.

mnottertail -> RE: Michigan 'Rape Insurance' Bill Passes Into Law (12/13/2013 8:57:29 AM)

Maybe because nutsackers are lying about personal freedom?

so you were drafted....why does that give you the right to say what happens in any womans body?
Men vote for people who decide wether you can smoke crack or not.
And that gives you the right to force women to give birth??
where?????

How old are you, you cannot be the age given on your profile for some lie not to have taken place.

The last draft was early early 73 and therefore according to your profile you were around 12 years old.  Either that or you are a very heavy heavy 58 years old.

I'm surprised at how happy conservatives are about passing this new regulation that expands the power of government, interferes with the operations of private businesses, and raises costs for individuals and employers. I though they were against those things?

I guess if it makes it harder for women to get needed health care, government regulation is just fine and dandy.

The whole thing gives me hope, of course. Forcing anyone to pay a third party to kill a baby is just beyond barbaric.

You mean, you think that allowing a private business the choice of providing insurance to their employees that covers that is barbaric.

What this law does is to force private companies to change the insurance they offer, and to force individuals to change that insurance plan they buy. I thought the whole "conservative" thing was about how the government should stay out of the lives of individuals and allow the free market to do it's thing. So much for that, huh?

What makes you think conservative are happy about this? Everyone I have talked to has been pissed as hell that it wasn't put to a vote. Even our GOP governor vetoed it when he had a chance. This was started by the pro lifers and believe it or not a lot of people on the left are just as much against abortion as those on the right.

Why dont you go back and read the link I gave you before. Most women dont put elective abortions on their insurance because they dont want it known by their insurance or their employers.

Try again.

yes actually I am. Of course you wouldn't have a clue what I fight for, not that that will stop you from trying to imply you do. But facts are only 4% signed the original petition. To try and claim that they were all conservative or that they represent the will of the rest of us is just plain bullshit. It reminds me of the assholes who try to claim only right wingers are against gays.

How do employers get to look through any employee's medical records to see what procedures they've had?

ICD - 9 (ICD - 10 wont be implemented till next year) codes go with every procedure or medication. How would they not find out?

SadistDave -> RE: Michigan 'Rape Insurance' Bill Passes Into Law (12/14/2013 3:08:15 AM)

Personally, I think this is funny as hell!

Here is an interesting situation. The American public is forced by the libs to either purchase insurance they don't want or need or pay a tax. While they are still crowing about how Obummercare is "settled law" and can't be struck down (like oh.... slavery, prohibition, Japanese Relocation, or any of the hundreds of "settled law" cases repealed or overturned on a state level every decade) the rank-and-file libs are faced with a case of government forcing people to purchase insurance they don't need or want. Now the poor little buckaroos want to see a law forcing people to buy insurance they don't want or need to be struck down.

Irony aside... if this does go as far as SCOTUS and is successfully struck down, it could create a precident that could seriously threaten the Unaffordable Care Act that the libs are so enamored with. The legal maneuvering that would strike down the Michigan law could very likely create a roadmap for forcing SCOTUS to declare Obummercare unconstitutional. Quite a pickel the libs have gotten themselves into, isn't it?
