Any guesses as to how badly this hurts Christie's Presidential ambitions?

Not one fucking bit, except in the eyes of the bobbleheaded bitches for the DNC, and the jerkoff hacks from Organizing For America.

All the shrieking about this story is going to do is put a spotlight on the hypocrisy of those who want to act offended now, after having no problem whatsoever with President Obama using the IRS to target his opposition. Isn't the term, "manufactured scandal?"

It's funny to watch the lefties coming in their pants, though.

You do realize that unlike the bullshit completely made up pseudo IRS scandal there is actual evidence that this was done directly by people at the top of the Christy administration and campaign, including the guy Christy just appointed to be state Republican Party chairman?

DomKen -> RE: Bridge"gate" (1/8/2014 9:32:32 PM)

And if this is exclusively some liberal thing why did Murdoch's New York paper just publish this?

Hmmm..... dead 91 year old lady in this case, in the hoax IRS scandal, not one single rightwing organization stopped.

Moral equivalence isn't your strong suit is it?

I believe it will hurt Christie unless the blame can ultimately be placed solely at the feet of the two appointees who have resigned.
I also believe that when this matter reaches the point in some legal proceeding where formal depositions are taken, both of the appointees will swear that they acted unilaterally and without direct orders from Christie - unless doing so will result in jail time for one or both.

This is how the rightist hack mind operates.....create phony scandals so that your own party can commit real violations and when confronted w/ them say," they did it to-blather-blather".

What has them really riled up tho,he-he,with this one...is they can smell it... too.

They know in their guts it`s pretty bad and that more is to come(the e-mails).

This is THE busiest and ONE OF THE MOST important section of roadway in America.THE MOST vital artery.

I`m reminded of a Chris Christie,who just after shrub appointed him a federal DA,took apart and went after a prankster who had lased a NJ state trooper helicopter w/ one of those laser pointers.Yes is was very stupid and dangerous and I would never have done it but the guy was no terrorist(this was just post 9/11).Just a middle class guy w/ a wife and kids and no record who did something dumb.Christie didn`t cut the guy any brakes and was very harsh when he was commenting about the perpetrator.

IMHO,this is not much different from lasing a helicopter and perps should be punished the same way....including Christie the ring leader.

DarkSteven -> RE: Bridge"gate" (1/8/2014 10:36:10 PM)

This ain't good for Christie. Part of his problem is that his appeal is to Dems and centrists. The right wing of the GOP has never liked him and was looking for an excuse to squelch his ambitions.

So the right wing of the GOP will try to push him out based on this. He's short on allies now.

cloudboy -> RE: Bridge"gate" (1/9/2014 8:08:49 AM)

It might take someone like him to corral the looneys on the RT. The nice-guy, Romney way didn't work so well.

mnottertail -> RE: Bridge"gate" (1/9/2014 8:10:28 AM)

Again, I think that other than this punitive bit of politick, he could run on a democratic ticket and have a real shot winning.  He won't make it on the ballot as republican.

Its as close as they could get.

tj444 -> RE: Bridge"gate" (1/9/2014 10:33:31 AM)

FR-

he was on cnbc this am apologizing and claiming he didn't know what his top staff were doing, blah blah blah.. the dude is a politician.. so (imo) if his lips are moving, he is lying..

I have to say the dude rubs me the wrong way, even before this scandal/incident.. (but I am not a voter so my opinion matters not..)

cloudboy -> RE: Bridge"gate" (1/9/2014 10:38:01 AM)

Don't underestimate his fat guy charm.

mnottertail -> RE: Bridge"gate" (1/9/2014 11:22:25 AM)

C'mon, cloud, you don't like fatgirls?   I think the largest charm besides his Grover Cleveland outfitting, sans moustache, is that he is nearly sane amongst a field of ignorant rabble.

I mean it is within that one-dimensional perspective he looms as large as life as well.

Phydeaux -> RE: Bridge"gate" (1/9/2014 4:19:32 PM)

The lack of republican cajones to stand up to democratic politikin always bothers me.

While I pretty much despise dims - at least they play the game to win - no holds barred.

Does anyone really suppose the Chicago (or Illinois) is run any different than Jersey?

Owner59 -> RE: Bridge"gate" (1/9/2014 4:53:00 PM)

Well,your declared favorite geopee-gub`ner tried and failed, with a cover-up.

There`s a prosecutor opening an investigation,you know,because of possible criminal charges and then there`s the "traffic study" that fatty had 1st blamed during the cover-up.Ha ha...

We need to know more about this "traffic study"......cuz that sounds pretty bogus.....Riiiiight..."traffic study"......[sm=rofl.gif]

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/compost/wp/2014/01/09/chris-christie-and-the-best-traffic-safety-study-ever/

"My favorite part of this Chris Christie Aides Block Fort Lee Access To George Washington Bridge story is the initial attempts to claim that it was a “traffic safety study.”

If I were in the state now, I would be chasing someone around with a microphone shouting in all caps, “NO BUT WHAT DID YOU LEARN IN THE TRAFFIC STUDY?

PEOPLE DESERVE TO KNOW!

DID YOU LEARN THAT IF YOU PUT TRAFFIC CONES SOMEWHERE, BLOCKING TWO LANES, THERE WILL BE TRAFFIC?

BECAUSE THIS IS A GREAT REVELATION! I AM GLAD WE DID THIS! LET’S DO A HEALTH STUDY NEXT! WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU WHACK YOUR POLITICAL OPPONENTS ON THE HEAD WITH A BAT?”

Really you can get away with anything if you pretend it’s a study."

Yes, it is.
No pol here has ever messed with rush hour for political purposes. Anyone who did would be bounced out of office very quickly.

For Christie to imply he knew nothing flies in the face of the fact that NOTHING happens in his admin without his knowledge.

"In one exchange of text messages on the second day of the lane closures, Wildstein alludes to messages the Fort Lee mayor had left complaining that school buses were having trouble getting through the traffic.
“Is it wrong that I’m smiling,” the recipient of the text message responded to Wildstein. The person’s identity is not clear because the documents are partially redacted for unknown reasons.
“No,” Wildstein wrote in response.
“I feel badly about the kids,” the person replied to Wildstein. “I guess.”
“They are the children of Buono voters,” Wildstein wrote, making a reference to Barbara Buono, the Democratic candidate for governor, who lost to Christie in a landslide in November"

Imagine if there were emails from the Obama admin, sarcastically mocking Benghazi victims like that......and how bad that would look for the President?

They had to have known that police, emergency vehicles and personnel would also be hampered by this.The careless disregard and just plain dickishness is hard to understand.He won with a huge % of the voters.He didn`t need the mayor of Fort Lee`s endorsement.

His claim that he only yesterday found out..... is a bit hard to swallow.....considering he joked that yes he was on the bridge himself,.....putting out the cones ,weeks ago.......then dissing the reporter for asking the question....

Now he`s shocked and saddened and doesn`t know anything.....but not sorry.....Never said he was sorry.My lawyer girlfriend said there`s definitely a negligence law suit against the state..... coming from the family of the person who died.....

That`s going to play great.....

Remember what happened to Mayor Bilandic when the snow wasn't plowed back in the late 70's?

Owner59 -> RE: Bridge"gate" (1/9/2014 10:38:13 PM)

This goes way past simple negligence or falling asleep at the switch.

There is political retribution( the real kind,actual acts of retribution,(not made up stuff like Benghazi) and abuse of power.....

There is a cover-up.No one here believes he only just found out yesterday.The story he passed off as the truth till yesterday was that there was a 4 day "traffic safety study" going on.The emails clearly indicate the action was purely punitive and premeditated.

There is racist comments by one top aid (these interoffice e-mails are readable by Christie),
"“The mayor is an idiot,” Christie campaign manager Bill Stepien wrote in reply to a Wildstein e-mail containing a Wall Street Journal story on the lane closures. “When some (sic), lose some.”

"“I had empty boxes ready to take to work today, just in case. It will be a tough November for this little Serbian,” Wildstein wrote in reply. The “little Serbian” is apparently a reference to Sokolich.

Stepien, who headed both Christie’s 2009 and 2013 campaigns, was just named as the next chairman of the state Republican Party and is also working for the Republican Governors Association, an organization headed by Christie."

http://www.courierpostonline.com/article/20140109/NEWS02/301080059/Christie-Bridgegate-emails-unacceptable

Sokolich is Croatian,tho stuff like that matters little to racists....

Christie?

Oh hell no. But this is a smart move by the dims. Of course the investigator appointed is a DNC contributor. The hell with the appearance of impartiality.

The dims are certainly not tarring my candidate. But they are tarring the most centrist Rino.
Good move for them.

I personally expect hillary to keep low profile till after 2014. She doesn't want to be associated in any way with the trashing that's going to occur.

She will judiciously support a few candidates guaranteed to win. She will quietly sabotage a few enemies.
Unless things start to look good for the dims - in which case she'll jump on the bandwagon.

She's cautious.
