Peon, I love her sarcastic sayings. The friendship between her and Lady Crawley is awesome!
They compliment each other. Lol (in a weird way)

I love the push and pull between them!!

So can somebody sort me out?

Does Bates know it was Gillingham or is he still under the impression it was his valet, Green?

You ARE behind! It was never Gillingham. Green is no more. He had a tragic accident in London the day Bates took a day trip to York.

Didn't Gillingham excuse himself during the performance at the soiree and trap Anna downstairs? I thought it was him! He went back up to the party looking a bit rumpled and distracted.

That WAS Green. In the manner of the day, the servants are called by their employer's names by the other servants. Bates would be called Mr Grantham, Anna, Mrs. Crawley.

OK, so I can quit being grossed out every time I see Gillingham drooling over Lady Mary?

I was confused until Sunday, when Bates called the American valet by Mary's Uncle's last name ( I forgot his name already). Did anyone else want to PUNCH him????? Gawd. He was obnoxious. He redeemed himself a bit by the end.

Also. I love Shirley MacLaine, but do you think they are making her look older on purpose? How old is she now, anyway?

She's 79. I guess she's entitled to look a bit seasoned!

And btw, Maggie Smith, who plays Lady Crawley, actually does have a title. She was made a dame in 1990. (That's the female equivalent of 'knight' in our weird system.)

SPOILER WARNING

The real question is, did Bates take out Green?

Since they found the rr ticket in his overcoat, we know he went to London instead. Himself and I both think he did it, but since LadyM tossed the ticket in the fire, there is no proof (that we know of).

I'm really enjoying how Daisy is growing up. And poor Sybil -- that woman can not catch a break.

Oh. Bates definitely took care of Green. And ugh, Sybil!! :(.
I really loved the "coming out" theme. Do they still do that for young girls in the UK?

Queen Elizabeth II abolished the presentations in the late 50s. How do I know this? I married a historian.

A bit more on the end of presenting debs at court:

Yes, Bates probably did rearrange Green's outlook. But I suspect we shall never know for certain.

He did seem even snootier than usual. I rather liked the friendly enthusiasm of the American valet, especially when he was hawking the canapes!
