His academic focus is 18th century central Europe, he considers himself knowledgeable about European history in general. He writes about (primarily) military subjects of that era.

He has a very broad background, so he has other interests/areas of expertise, like the US civil war.

SPOILER WARNING

The real question is, did Bates take out Green?

...I'm really enjoying how Daisy is growing up. And poor Sybil -- that woman can not catch a break.

Did you mean Edith? Sybil was Tom's wife.

I definitely think Bates took out Green.

I haven't seen the first two seasons of the show. I"m going to marathon them sometime soon!

I'm thinking she is talking about Edith.

No, but I did watch this program that BBC aired that was telling all the behind the scenes and little tid bits about everyone. It was very enjoyable. Im so excited!!!
On a somewhat related note, I'm a serious tea drinker, and Whole Foods has these teas that are from DA. I always get Ms. Patmore's english pudding (or something like that), I add a bit of half and half.
Its to die for!

Thomas has got to be one of the luckiest little bastards I have ever seen. I really thought he was gone this time but once again fate saved him. But at least now he can't harass the new girl anymore. I wonder who his new target will be.

It can't die, then how would we ever find out who the witness was and what they actually saw.

Yep, bring back Upstairs Downstairs. Though, when I watched a re run of one of the old episodes recently, even that looked a bit silly.

I still laugh at the idea of the family's ex-chauffeur, who is Irish and a republican to boot, becoming part of the family in Downton. I mean, really, Fellowes *has* to be taking the piss.

I watch it for the amazing costumes. They sold a load of them off recently in London. I wish I'd known.

A pudding they used to serve up at school . It was good, actually: a bit like treacle pudding, minus the treacle, but with raisins in it (hence the 'spotted'). Very filling and fortifying during winter.

I have seen a can of it at the store and really been tempted to get it. But Id be afraid that it would taste horrid bc its canned and ruin it for me. Or does it normally come in a can?

It's probably fine from a tin. It's sweet, stodgy stodge, K. Eat it with hot custard and you'll be able to go out in the snow in a bikini. :-)

QFT!

It irks me no end that the sole gay character is such a jerk.

Yep. I was surprised that got past the commissioners, to be honest.

Ok, that explains the "spotted" part but why do they call it dick?
