You must hang with a high class group of seven year olds.  I didn't call any names.  And its nice that you can't even bother to post a profile, but are quick to judge others.

Anyway, I thought Pete's comments were interesting, as did the majority of people responding save "marie" and "brightspot".  The issue is about online photos, not how you perceive Me.  Again, post a profile and maybe you'll have some credibility (but I doubt it).

E.

Ermmmm I say Emperor old lad, where is your profile? You know the one on the other side with the photos in? I clicked on your name and lo and behold "NO PROFILE FOUND" was the reply. So just to be sure, I copy/pasted your name in the appropriate search box and guess what? "NO PROFILE FOUND" was the reply. Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black don't you think old chap??

BrightSpot is BrightSpot. We've had a few harsh words in the past but by and large the majority of her posts tend to be both informative and constructive. At least she did appologise fior her harsh words, something you haven't done and I notice that you even told a huge porky in reply to marieToo's post addressed to you:

quote:

ORIGINAL: marieToo

quote:

ORIGINAL: Emperor1956

Brightspot:   Who the hell are you to treat Pete this way?  You are a rude, unthinking woman and this post of yours speaks ill of your quality as a person!  Change your name to "dullone".  It fits you better.

(Note, I have no vested interest in this discussion, and I don't know Mr. Pete.  I'm just a hawk for bad manners.)

E.

Scolding someone for being rude, then calling them names in the fashion of a typical 7 year old, somehow removes the validity of your conviction.

<Just thought you might appreciate an outsiders's view>

Your reply was a resounding PORKY:

Now I won't take you to task about your rudeness for to be sure I have been known on odd occasions to wade in deeper and hit harder than you probably can.. I have one saving grace whih you apparently lack old chap.. If I know I'm wrong and especially if it is pointed out to me, I am Man enough and secure in myself to stand up and publically appologise... I rather think that it is your credability whih has serious damage dont you?

Well, first I must say that while yes, many photos here are not the best quality, the CM TOS specifically states that the photos must be taken yourself.  That pretty much precludes professional photos.

Second, not everyone is handy with photo software.  They may well have done the best they could with the tools and knowledge they possess.

Third, it's just a photo, it's not a big enough deal to squawk over.

And lastly, for Brightspot, whom I first noticed with her thread on the poor way the gators were being treated in Florida.
I'm not exactly sure what in Pete's post unhinged you, as it was fairly benign.  I will say that I believe you reacted in an extremely harsh way to someone who did nothing to deserve it.  If you don't agree with him, that's fine, but I think the flat out rage and hatred with which you reamed him was completely uncalled for.  I will mention, as long as I'm here, that your use of the large, bold font makes you seem obnoxious already.  The angry and often meaningless diatribes you so often post just intensify that feeling.

I don't agree with a lot of Pete's posts.  A lot just rubs me the wrong way, but I don't see the need in speaking to him in the manner you've done here.  You do have the block feature as well as the rest of us.  I suggest you utilize it for those you find distasteful.

E's profile - the "one on the other side" - can be found under "Emperor", as indicated at the bottom of his posts.

I've seen more than enough rudeness in this thread to go around.  MrrPete asked a question not aimed at critiquing anyone's personal attributes and the result has been pages of "How dare!" and "You're rude" and "Kiss my ass."  Playing the one-up Alpha Male game of "I've been known on odd occasions to wade in deeper and hit harder than you probably can." is no exception. Calling someone "old lad" and "old chap" in this context is just condescending.  *shrugs*  Pot.  Kettle. Black.

I thought MrrPete's question was a fair one.  I thank the people who've answered civilly and taken this thread in the spirit it was meant - it makes for much better reading.

Interesting post, Holly.

You criticise others for calling something "rude", right after you yourself do the same thing by saying

"I've seen more than enough rudeness in this thread to go around"

Then you complain about how the post has been turned into an argument, while you *contribute to* and *participate in*  the very argument that you condemn.

What was it you were saying about "Pot. Kettle. Black " ??

IronBear, I've had a profile on CollarMe for over 3 years.  Its there now.  I don't know why you can't find it?  I don't post my picture and I explain why in my profile.  Did you put in "EMPEROR" like I say IN every one of my posts?  IB, it may be time to put down the Fosters and read with a bit of precision.

The rest of your post is dreck.  Not worthy of a reply.

*sigh*

There is a big difference between pointing out rude behavior and "contributing to" or "participating in" said rudeness. Stating my opinion that there have been many rude comments in this thread is not, in itself rude.  Pointing out inconsistancies is not rude. It's important that one know the difference.

Actually I didnt say that you were contributing to "said" rudeness. I said you were mentioning it, while criticising others for doing the same thing....

What  I said you were *contributing* to, was the argument that you so condemned.

Maybe read a bit slower next time.

Whats the big deal about having a profile?  Does someone need to have one to post here?  I certainly dont need to know a persons age, location, gender, or kinks in order to agree or disagree or otherwise converse with them on a message board.

Holly, do you know me? Are we related? Do you live in Australia? No to all of these things.. Pity that from what appears a limited knowledge of how people speak that you lead an insular life. I could be wrong however.. More than half the time the phraseology I use in the post you refer to is my normal speach pattern. You dare to criticise me for using terminology which is normal for me? You sound like those who wanted to lynch me for animal abuse when in a post to friends who are familiar with Australian idioms for saying "stone the bloody crows".. Perhaps you may want to think twice before accusing anybody of patronising anyone else.... Or at least learn more about how people speak/write first for as sure as night follows day lass, I will not alter my phrasology for any here....I was at least being civil and refrained (with great difficulty) from using terms which would have been offensive to most when I addressed Emperor. He just isn't worth it which is why I rarely bother to even read what he says..... BTW, I can find no post on this page (and it's not worth my time to go back further) in which he signs anything with more than "E". thus not being a mind reader or having any particuler interest in this person, I did what most do and that is to either click on his name or to copy/paste the name for a search.. Some there are who are worthy of spending time to make a complete search, he is not one of them...

*blinks in amazement and shakes her head*  Drama much?  Holy crap, this post went spiralling out of control fast.

I have to say that I was, when I very first read the OP, a little unnerved by MrrPete's post about the quality of pictures.  I thought, "That's a little arrogant.".  I mean, I myself used to only have a very crappy webcam to take pics with and no matter how many times I retook the pics, they didn't get much better.  Thankfully I now have a digital camera.  But, I'm a very shaky person so I still have to take shots many times over before I get a good clear shot generally.  So, I don't think everyone should be judged based on a photo when one doesn't know the story behind it.

HOWEVER, after reading this entire thread, I looked back at the original post and I really didn't see anything that bad.  I think MrrPete just posted a personal pet peeve.  Many of us have them I think and some of us have even posted them from time to time.  So, I find the problem lies within myself, not MrrPete's post.  So, I look at myself and try to find why I'm projecting my own problems and insecurities off onto MrrPete here.  After all, I have read a number of His posts and have always found him to be reasonable and kind.

Anyway, I guess my point is this.  Maybe if we each stopped and looked into ourselves and asked the question, "What purpose does this hostility serve?" before posting, we might be better off for it.  Ego and Pride can be nasty and tricksy motivators.  Then again, maybe I'm wrong.

**Disclaimer** I have been, and probably will be again, guilty of falling prey to Ego and Pride myself.

You're correct, BrightSpot, I didn't comment on your subsequent posts.  They didn't deserve it, as they were not sincerely apologetic.  They were still full of hatred and drama.  I also do not wait for someone, anyone, to make a post that I can jump on and point out the error of their ways.  I posted what I did, as I did, because I felt you were unfairly malicious to Pete.  That maliciousness has spilled over to others in this thread and it's wrong there too.  I honestly do not see the point in being so incredibly ugly to anyone.  My words to you, and those of several others, were constructive criticism, not disparagment.  You might not have asked for it, but you sorely needed it.

Yes, I do have control over my block button and I do use it when I feel it necessary.  However, I don't find it necessary for you at this moment.
You certainly may, however, choose to add me to your own block list.  I will always call them as I see them, with regard to any post on this board, albeit, I will make every attempt to make my point without resorting to meaness.  As for my comments on your use of font, it's simply my observation.  It reads from the screen very much like someone yelling, all the time.  Which in turn, makes a negative, ugly post seem that much more so.  I'm sorry if you don't understand this or agree with it, but it's very true.  It works much the same as someone using all capital letters.

My best to you, BrightSpot.  I do hope that you can spend some time thinking about some of these posts made here, and come to understand why it seemed everyone jumped you.  There are ways to disagree with people that don't include being downright ugly to them.  Sometimes, it's as simple as reading through a post again before clicking ok.  Sometimes, it's leaving it for a different time, when you post with a fresh mind.  Sometimes, it's hitting the cancel button.

Fast replied to this as I didnt want to add to the confusion

Photos are photos, I guess its all about what you are happy putting on your profile and how you want to portray yourself.  It also depends on the camera/software available.  My last lot were done on a camera phone and wacked through photoshop, no the quality isnt great on them, but its me, and they show my saggy ass off to perfection (You dont want that in better detail, I can assure you  lol).

So im my exceptionally humble opinion, if someone doesnt want a piccy on their profile or only has a webcam shot - then fine - its what THEY are happy with.

*climbs off soapbox and runs away (fast)
