ORIGINAL: joether Back in the 'old days' of theater there existed a cloak room. Visiting guests to the theater would give their coats and such to a nice man or women in that area and be given a ticket with a number on it. After the show, they would hand this ticket to nice person to obtain their valuables. Maybe the answer is to use something from history that was once done away with for being 'old fashion'. Instead, swipe the dust off the idea and place it back within the theater. A room that every guest must pass before being allowed into the theater (tickets, lobby, vending machines, counter, actual theater). They must surrender their cellphones, smartphones and arms, and given a 'ticket'. After the show, they can have their valuables back. If a person doesn't want to give up their prized pistol, they don't need to see the movie with their friends. Exceptions for those in the medical or law enforcement fields might be added. It would be a good idea for a medical doctor to know when he needs to beat feet to the hospital for an emergency, right? Right, because Dr's are the only people who need to be contacted for emergencies. It's a good thing there aren't any emergencies anyone else can get into while going to see a movie. [8|] Aren't theaters "Gun-Free Zones?" Could this case hinge on the definition of "excessive force" (which you would think a police officer, retired or not, would understand)? No they aren't, our local theater prohibits open carry.
