You seem to be debating with yourself. They will, they won't; it will collapse, they don't want it to collapse. When you owe the bank a bunch of uncollateralized debt the bank fears the debtor and it is in the interest of the bank to keep the debtor solvent. As to your statement that the US is the world's marketplace, ask Apple and Nike how that's working out for them. I think you will find that the Eurozone is also a significant marketplace.
