ORIGINAL: MalcolmNathaniel Well, from what I hear, bush tucker isn't for the faint of heart. You can get kangaroo at a restaurant off I-95 in Delaware. Pretty tasty critter. I'm leary about anything else from Australia though. I've never met an Aussie I didn't like, but their animals are all poisonous. Even the beavers. aussies are some of the friendliest, laid back people i've ever met. bush tucker is generally really nice - wiki defines bush tucker as : Bushfood (referred to as bush tucker in Australia) traditionally relates to any food native to Australia and used as sustenance by the original inhabitants, the Australian Aborigines, but it is a reference to any native fauna/flora that is used for culinary and/or medicinal purposes regardless of which continent or culture it originates from. Examples of Australian native animal foods (meats) include kangaroo, emu and crocodile. In particular, kangaroo is quite common and can be found in many normal supermarkets, often cheaper than beef. Other animals, for example goanna and witchetty grubs, were eaten by Aboriginal Australians. Fish and shellfish are culinary features of the Australian coastal communities. barring witchety grubs and goanna, i've eaten all of that meat. i'd give goanna a go, but admit i'd be sqeamish of the grubs. balmain bug (vy similar to a really big crawfish) is delish. barrumundi is superb fish. the spices and the fruits are all unusual but quite good. you'd be hard pressed to find a 'beaver' and catch it, though the 'map of tasmania' would be far easier to find... head for manly beach.
