Who the hell were or are the Jonas Brothers?

Of course, this means nothing since most 18 and 20 somethings have no clue as to who Dr. Strange is.

I have run into a few young people who never heard of him either, which leads me to wonder just what is being taught in music and history classes.

Jonas Brothers are old news.
But they all have abstinence rings, elegantly disheveled hair, and Disney background they have yet to shake and are probably going to either have to dramatically (a la Miley Cyrus) or fall off the face of earth as their demographic gets older and discovers real music.

Who is Dr. Strange?
Jonas Brothers started as a Disney Channel show about 3 brothers who are musicians...and, of course, they are 3 brothers who were musicians. Like Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Disney launches them in a TV show, builds up a group of 'tween fans, then send them on a music tour... They then turn into the hear throbs of many a teeny-bopper until they decide to go alone and/or outgrow their fans.

I'm still mourning Pete Seeger.
Putting aside his folk music, he single handedly started the clean up of the Hudson River. Which these days is safe to eat the fish from, from the source, down to at least the Tappan Zee Bridge and probably almost to North Jersey. 25 years ago, when I moved up here, it was catch and release because the toxic metal count was unbelievable all along it.

Let's see, Doctor Strange ... You mean the one created by Steve Ditko, Spider-man's original artist from the Amazing Fantasy days? Apparently, Marvel is developing a new movie based on him. There's an award winning animated movie that not only incorporates the original storyline, but makes some really wicked additions. Oh, yeah, there's also a really bad TV movie, too.

Is that the fleas of a million camel, collectively? I don't have an exact number, but my guess is the people unaware of this Dr. Strange character probably out number the amount of fleas of a million camels. Just a (good) guess.

Funny you should mention Dr. Strangelove.

I was at Tasha's best friend's place at a cookout a few months back. Her boyfriend was on the deck with me. He was smoking a cigarette and I suddenly realized that with his hair and facial shape, he was a dead ringer for Strangelove, especially when holding a cigarette. Oddly enough, the bf is also fluent in German, but unfortunately has no German accent.

I am a bit annoyed Disney couldn't be arsed putting him in that Avengers movie, to be honest. Wonderful character, and the Steve Englehart run is some of the best comics of the '70s, right up there with Howard The Duck and Kirby's Fourth World stuff.
