The Americans haven't managed to subjugate Iraq and Afghanistan after eleven years. Why in hell's name would they have any better luck with a country that has the sort of crippling winters that fucked up Napoleon and Hitler in Russia?

We could do such a thing in a nice, transitional sort of way. Turn the provinces into individual US Territories, so we are firmly in charge, but they can keep the illusion of local control. Most will get with the program, and become states, and Quebec can stay like Puerto Rico.
