In English we capitalize names (even of different languages). So, capitalizing "Ebonics" is absolutely correct, if we consider Ebonics to be a language. I know I consider it to be its own language.

Surely it's closer to a dialect then a language?

Ja, we know bloody well it anit a real language, innit?  Same as us yanks and ass.  Same same.

So a guy was on employment interviews, and he was asked if he could use the word before properly in a sentence; he replied, two plus two before.

Guess his ebonics. Hint:  Not Vietnamese.

It was a separate course, offered at a California university in the 90s. That's good enough for me. I say it's a separate language.

Seriously?
People never cease to amaze me on how far they will stretch in order to be offended.

I don't think it was a stretch. I think the videographer saw what he wanted to see, which wasn't reality. If the sign had said, "No coloreds allowed," then, their taking offense would have been justified.

I would have taken offense at "no collars"
as well.

The real question is, though, how many people know about its use re biker gangs?

Must admit I didn't.

Me neither. I mean, I know that some gangs have "gang colors", but I don't have any real experience with gangs, and if I saw a sign that just said "no colors" rather than "no gang colors", I don't think I would make the connection. If I'd seen that, I don't know that I would've immediately assumed it was racist, but I would have considered it a strong possibility.

It is not a language in any case, at most it is English vernacular.  You don't speak ebonics in Mexico, or Latvia.

xactly

ebonia isnt a country(which is why we cap the language(French, Italian, German..).slang /dialect heh vernacular :) at best
