Miranda Barbour, 19, told the Daily Item that she has killed at least 22 other people from Alaska to North Carolina. (WBRE)

SUNBURY, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania woman charged along with her newlywed husband in the murder of a man they met through Craigslist admitted to the slaying in a jailhouse interview with a newspaper and said she has killed more than 20 others across the country, claims police said they are investigating.

In an interview with the Daily Item in Sunbury, Pa., 19-year-old Miranda Barbour said she wants to plead guilty to killing Troy LeFerrara in November. She also said in the interview that she has killed at least 22 other people from Alaska to North Carolina in the last six years as part of her involvement in a satanic cult.

"I feel it is time to get all of this out. I don't care if people believe me. I just want to get it out," Barbour told the newspaper for a story published Saturday night (http://bit.ly/1gN81z3).

Sunbury police Chief Steve Mazzeo told the newspaper that investigators have been in contact with the FBI and law enforcement in several other states.

"From information we gathered and from information gathered from her interview we are seriously concerned and have been in contact with the proper authorities," Mazzeo said.

Lawyers for the couple did not immediately return messages from The Associated Press left at their offices Saturday night. An FBI spokesman referred questions to its Philly office, but an email message wasn't immediately returned.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Barbour and her husband, 22-year-old Elytte Barbour. Authorities said Miranda Barbour, a petite woman with long brown hair, told investigators she met the 6-foot-2, 278-pound victim after he responded to her Craigslist ad offering companionship for money.

Police allege in court papers that Elytte Barbour told investigators they committed the crime because they wanted to kill someone together. The couple, who were married in North Carolina and moved to Pennsylvania about three weeks before the crime, told police Miranda Barbour stabbed LaFerrara in the front seat of her car while her husband held a cord around his neck.

She said in the interview that she doesn't want to get out of jail and that she would kill again if she were released.

Miranda Barbour offered little detail on the murders she claimed to have participated in in Alaska, Texas, North Carolina and California. She claims she joined a satanic cult in Alaska when she was 13 before moving to North Carolina. Online records for the woman that the newspaper identified as Barbour's mother show her as having lived in both Alaska and North Carolina.

Fucked up little bitch, ain't she?

As for the specifc question of the thread title, another site would just pick up the traffic. You'd have to ban any form of individual interaction, anywhere in the interwebs.

Obviously, the solution is to ban cords, knives and cars.

Maybe we should put a chip in everyone's head and program them for proper behavior.

Isn't that what Obamacare is all about?

They're implanting chips in everyone so they can be constantly located and their behavior monitored and 'adjusted'.

CL was designed and created with the intention to kill...VERY stupid argument....

Stick with the "everyone hates gun owners" narrative.....it`s less stupid...

How about we just ban idiotic men who answer online ads from young women looking for money.? People never learn...you engage in risky behavior, you take a risk. Sometimes I think this is one glaring difference between men and women...Men are more trusting in their physical ability to fight someone off and therefore will assume more risk.

It boils down to this-there are crazy and sick people in the world. You can't always KNOW who they are but you need to be smart in the situations you put yourself in.

The same thing happens on every 'sex site' to include Fetlife and Collarme. Last year, Fetlife came under fire when a "cougar" got a "cub" to murder her hubby. Fetlife was brought into the mix because they met in a fetish group called "Kinky Cougar Connection." Even this site has its on skeletons.

No no no no no no. That requires some form of individual responsibility. Society must be structured to protect the dumbest people out there. Only government action can truly make us safe. It's a matter of safety inequality.

True, but that hardly fits the mindset which so many claim allows being safely in such situations. Truly boggles the mind.

In the lab, I'd say "Every time I make something idiot proof, they go and invent a whole new breed of idiot".

Not defending the idiot, but I know Sunbury or should I say Northumberland County Pa very well. I grew up there. It's a depressed area behind the times with the main employer being the State and Federal prisons. It's not Mayberry, but folks still don't lock their front doors or their cars. It is an area that is filled with hate groups such as the 311, but generally people grow up marrying their high school sweetheart and the talk of the town would be football and who is cheating on who, so I can understand (not condone) his more than trusting disposition to get into a vehicle with someone he met on Craigslist.

So the vunerability problem there would be naïve people?

DominantWoman65 -> RE: Will banning Craigslist save lives? (2/16/2014 11:39:34 AM)

In a way I will say yes, as hard as it is to believe there are people in that area who have never ventured out of the county, let alone the state. The area was almost completely destroyed in the 72 flood and never fully recovered. Think of coal mining area and farmland. Culturally speaking, the area has nothing unless you want to count the state fair in nearby Bloomsburg.

Banning Craig's list won't save lives, another avenue would just be found. As long as John or Jane Schmo continue to believe that nothing evil will happen to them either out of naivity or desperation to elude their loneliness, this will continue to happen.

And as long as there are evil people,
I think we are in agreement here.
