It wasn't knocking on the door that got him shot it was that he was warned not once, not twice, but three damn
times to stop coming at Hendrix. That many warnings are not the action of a trigger happy irresponsible person.

Yep it was for the crime of walking that he was executed.

Yep, people who "don't live in terror of anyone" think shooting confused old men for walking towards them is the responsible thing to do.

You forgot to use the sarcasm font, nobody could say that with a straight face.

Asked and answered.

I have nothing more to add. Please stop with the ***MACHO**** stuff too! it makes you look silly.

Now you can go off huffing about me being "liar", too, which is something I also didn't understand.

I'm 100% with GOTSTEELE, and made that clear at the front of the thread, and his posting also runs circles around your "superpower" nonsense.

Lucy's post about the DETROIT shooting shows a proper take for those engaging in reckless / negligent homicides.

????????????????

You are actually trying to make this person into some kind of danger, AMAZING.

So then I'm guessing you are as ignorant of Alzheimer's disease, as you are of firearms, Cloudboy? If that is deliberate, too, I can't I blame you. It does awful things to people.

We're actually having a conversation about whether it was reasonable to kill a confused old man who was trying to get help because he was lost at night in winter, this is so fucked up.

And he never should have gotten out of his house but his wife didn't wake up when he left and hadn't reported
him missing THREE HOURS later when the incident happened.
People don't do the absolute perfect thing as determined by armchair Quarterbacks looking for an excuse
to condemn them, this does not make them murderers or negligent caregivers.

Since he refused to say anything how do you know he was looking for help.
It is just as valid to say he was in the midst of a delusion that this was his home and he was going
to dispose of what he thought was the intruder, Hendrix.
There is no way to know.
You are making up a scene that fits your preconceived notions with no facts to back it up.

Please tell me when you think self defense is acceptable.
If you have to make up every possible excuse for the other guy
you can't defend yourself until he proves beyond any doubt that
he intends to hurt you he has to get the first shot or if you prefer the term
the first strike.
Thus while you can't seem to follow this that is what you have always argued for.

Self defense is only acceptable when there is an actual threat that can not be avoided by any other means.

So it's the anti-gunners, perhaps better said as anti self defense, v pro-gunners, pro self defense.

So I'm pro self defense against actual threats it's killing people over imaginary threats I take issue with. So it's better said as reality based response vs. paranoid delusions.

What's interesting is that the anti's use hindsight as justification for their posturing rhetoric whereas the pro's use viewing it 'at the moment'.

Nope, I've shared with you the responsible behavior I used "at the moment".

quote:

ORIGINAL: Yachtie
Those are wholly different lenses. Reality based, one is appropriate and the other is not.

This is exactly my point!

Reality: A confused old man needed help.

Imaginary: Deadly attacker will break down the door with his murder club.

Thank heavens they also don't do like your hero... or every time someone knocks on a door at night they will get a stomach full of lead if they don't stop after three challenges.

I am going to take my own advice and say good night to this thread...we are repeating ourselves to no avail...Maybe after you feed the killer dog... lock all the doors and windows... turn on the alarm systems... clean and load all your weapons...just in case someone rings the bell ... climb into bed... pull the covers over your head real tight... you may see how some people may reasonably think the guy is a yahoo murderer.

A point I haven't seen mentioned is that the anti self defense people on here
have to assume the cops don't know what they are doing, otherwise they wouldn't
have let Hendrix go.
And at the same time say Hendrix should have depended on those same grossly incompetent
cops for his safety.

The fact that I understand his actions doesn't make him my hero.

The cops let the murderer go because he was just barely inside the law. It doesn't make murdering that man right. The fact remains if he had simply turned on a porch light or a flashlight the man would still be alive.

properly secured? Since when precisely do people with dementia lose their freedom? When did simple trespassing become a capital crime in Georgia? Punishable when committed?

The fact remains that not being psychic Hendrix couldn't know he had Alzheimers
