People do have a desire to feel safe in their neighborhoods from suspicious people, vehicles and behaviors. Those people that reside there pay taxes. The taxes pay to hire and maintain a police force. The police force keeps an eye out for suspicious looking individuals, vehicles and behaviors. For Example....

If you or others feel the police officer took action due to your race, most states if not all have some mechanism set up to report such actions to be investigated. Any police station worth its weight in gold does NOT wish to lose the respect of the community.

Beg to differ with you on this point. Put bluntly, the local police force is little more than a gang of its own. It's members are not interested in the high-minded ideal of maintaining security and safety for all and they certainly don't give a shit about keeping the respect of the community. They care about making sure everyone fears them. Further, those mechanisms that are supposed to address discriminatory action also do nothing of the sort. Those exist to generate paperwork that denies any claim of wrongdoing and to bury whatever legitimacy there may be to said claim. The simple fact is that you have to be just this side of dead from the actions of the corrupt police before any restitution is even attempted. I speak from too many experiences.

When they go thru my luggage I love when they ask me "whats in this plastic bag?" my reply "my laundry" (oddly enough they tend not to look in the plastic bag to verify that.. lol)

It also depends on where you have been flying to/from- many times they are looking for people that are trying to avoid paying duty on imported goods, looking for prohibited stuff (like guns, certain foods) & stuff like that... I have learned that traveling light with just a small carry-on is always the way to go...

I've had this happen to me before too but not at Macy's. It's so humiliating and embarrassing. If people don't believe in the oppression of blacks by USA system, I hope they get searched just because of their race. Then they would understand how humiliating it is.

I think that happens more in the high/higher black populated areas/cities.. If I were black I would move to an area with a low population of blacks if you want to reduce the incidents of that happening to you.. its like if you are Hispanic (legal or illegal), don't live in AZ!!! Its wrong that the system is like that but for your own sanity try to take yourself out of that system.. as much as one can..

As someone in the travel industry, I will say that is incorrect. In fact, one of the most searched groups are middle aged caucasian women, traveling alone, ..especially if they have dark hair or dark complexions.

I got into a helluva verbal fencing match with three DEA agents in the middle of the Minn./St. Paul airport all because I had a ponytail and paid cash for a first-class one-way ticket to San Francisco. One thing they apparently don't like is when you tell them it's none of their fucking business where you're going or why.

It had nothing to do with the ponytail. It's standard procedure for counter agents to flag people that pay for expensive tickets in cash, especially business or first class.

Marcus Allen, NFL hall of fame running back was stopped regularly by LA police for driving his Ferrari. Blacks are stopped regularly on I-95 suspected of being drug runners. Apparently...the list goes on.

I don't think most here are trying to justify what happened in the link...but commenting on this part of your post
